Default Apple Slump

Apple Slump

6-8 apples, lg.
1 1/4 cup sugar
1 tsp. cinnamon
1 1/2 cup flour, sifted
1 1/2 tsp. baking powder
2 tbsp. butter, softened
3/4 cup milk

Peel, core and slice apples thick. In large saucepan combine apple
slices, 1 cup of the sugar, water and cinnamon. Cover and bring to a boil.
Reduce heat and simmer for 10 minutes. Sift together flour and baking
powder into a bowl and set aside. Cream butter and 1/4 cup sugar together.
Add flour mixture and blend well. Add milk and mix well. When apples have
simmered for 10 minutes, remove cover and drop spoonfuls of the dough on
top. Cover pot tightly and simmer until dumplings are done, 20 to 25
minutes. Serve warm.
