Went to the opening of the Farmer's Market on Saturday, picked up
lovely b**ts. Made 9.5 pints Red Wine Pickled B**ts. Will make one
more batch of Sugar Free same and a batch of fancy shaped ones for
gifts in weeks to come. That last one makes about 50% waste, but I'll
eat the trimmings, yumm all those vitamins!

Care to share the recipe or the source of the recipe for the red win
pickled beets? I love beets and have since I was a baby (according to
my aunt.)

I've posted the recipe here a couple times from Joy of Pickling, if you
have that text. I use Cabernet Sauvignon, a medium priced one. An
excellent wine is wasted in with the red wine vinegar and a poor wine will
only take away from the joy.
Let me know if you can't find it on google. Look for Red Wine Pickle
B**ts. The ** is because our Mother Superior has an unwarranted,
irrational, totally communist aversion to our beloved veggie. But we like
her anyway.

We'll all be called to testify sooner or later! and communists aren't the
badguys they useta be...
Watching war movies on TV to celebrate Memorial Day. A visit to the local VA
cemetary to honor my aunty, a WAVE from the WWII. And a salute to all those
here who served and their families.
