Default anyone planting their gardens this week?

I am starting my organic garden this week and wonder if there are other folks
out there who are doing the same.
I know you are supposed to plant radishes and lettuces directly into the soil,
but I did them in flats first.
Have you ever transplanted radishes? I am going to try it.
I did the same with my beets.
Also, has someone else successfully grown Sunflowers?
I know this may be off the preserving subject, but
if you are preserving you are probably growing as well.

It's a little cold here yet, but I've just started my seeds in a flat. I'm
using an old waterbed heater to warm the soil. I grow sunflowers every
year. In fact they are voluntaries and I just leave them for the birds.

I'm planting extremely little lately because so much of my gardening funds
went to flagstones & other landscaping materials, but I've been preparing
new garden spaces AS THOUGH i could afford to fill them with new things. I
have been doing some transplanting into new areas, for anything that has
struggled in its old locations or which could not be seen easily enough.
Some loganberry bushes for instance, stopped producing berries in their
increasingly shady location as big shrubs got bigger all 'round them, so
now they're in a spot where they get a smidgen of afternoon sun which I
sure hope will be enough to liven them up. Sometimes not being able to go
out & splurge on new things is useful, when there's already so much needs
to be done without adding new plants with new tasks.

"Oh, sir! The flowers, they are wild," replied the timid creature.

I wish! It's been in the high 70's and my apricot trees are
in full flower, but we are certain to have more snow and freezes
before June 1 in the Denver area. Too bad, because the trees
are loaded with blossoms and abuzz with bees.

We have grown them from seed and the squirrels and birds
feast on them, dropping ripe seeds so they essentially
self-seed for a few years if you are careful when tilling.

I planted peas and radish 2 weekends ago. They were dorment last
weekend. Last night I checked after work and they were both up around
an inch tall.

I planted some cold-weather plants about a month ago (in plastic
tunnels). *Some* are about an inch high, but the colder weather we've
had has set them back.

I planted rows of peas last weekend. Still waiting for them to peak out
of the soil.

I started a bunch of plants indoors at the end of February. Things are
growing VERY well, and I'm already running out of room ;-)

I did lettuce in flats this year. Plan to acclimate them and put them
outside in the next 1-3 weeks (zone 6)

They've always grown fine for me. I usually plant them after
5/15--seeds directly in the ground. Usually have a 90% germination
rate.

I think so.

Bad assumption. :-)
Rec.gardens.edible would be more appropriate for your inquiry.
