Default tomato soup question

I canned up some tomato soup last fall. I decided I better start using some up
making chili. I noticed that it looks like a can of condensed soup floating in
the jar. What did I do wrong and is it safe to eat it condensed like that? I
BWB them origianlly. The recipe I followed called for some all purpose flour
to thicken the soup. TIA
