The only thing I have needed to pressure can was chili and I had more jars than the new one would hold. However I bought the parts and converted my two larger ones to the weighted gauge. Took Pete about 15 minutes to do the job. Probably 10 minutes of that was finding the correct size wrench and getting the second lid from the basement. I used the newly converted 914 for the job and I love the way it works. I did not have to spend as much time listening to the jiggles. The pressure gauge is still on so I could make sure that it was correct. I love it. I will have to find more things to pressure can, but it is getting to the end of the season and my garden is about shot. I think that drying some apples is all I have left to do for the fair. Then I can goof off for a while, get my MP3 player loaded. |
