Default Tomato Sauce or Paste

Well, yeah, just add the appropriate herbs/spices and veggies. ;-)

I would start with:

one chopped onion
4 to 6 cloves fresh garlic
Mixed italian spices or make your own using
oregano, basil, thyme and a bit of pepper.

Cook that all together and add the tomato paste.

A bit of sugar and salt to taste and you are set to go!

I'd also add some sliced mushrooms and maybe some sausage, but that's
just me. <G>
