Default Refrigerating condiments

Is my family the only one that doesn't refrigerate things like ketchup
or mustard? Anyone I've talked to says they always keep their ketchup
and mustard in the refrigerator after it's been opened. I've eaten
unrefrigerated ketchup and mustard for over 40 years (no, not
continuously) and I've never gotten sick from it. Neither has anyone
else in our family. Pickles were often kept unrefrigerated too.
