<lol> I feel the same way...
Overpriced, overcooked, oversalted.

The soup is ok, (clam chowder) but that's about it!

And the cheez buscuits.

Everybody's a critic.

Red Lobster and Olive Garden are both owned by the same company,
Darden Restaurants.

www.darden.com

Their own blurb sez:

"Darden Restaurants, Inc. is the largest casual dining restaurant
company in the world. It operates more than 1,300 Red Lobster, Olive
Garden, Bahama Breeze, Smokey Bones BBQ, and Seasons 52 restaurants
in North America, leading each of its market segments and employing
more than 140,000 people. (All of the restaurants are company-owned.
The company offers no franchise opportunities domestically.)"

One telling point is the fact that Olive Garden recipes were taste
tested for years in retirement colonies in Florida. I believe I
posted a link to that in a previous thread on this very topic.

At Darden restaurants, they're not selling you food, they're selling
you "great service" and a casual dining experience with friends that
includes food (or so their website claims...at Olive Garden, itsa
famiglia, no?).

Personally, I think they don't give a shit about you as a customer
and they're in it for the money but given that they originated in a
kapitalyist-benighted environment, that shouldn't surprise anyone,
now, should it?

However, that being said, if my son and/or my daughter were to invite
me to go to one of those restaurants, I would go and be happy.
Luckily for me, they have more taste than that.

So you did not have to take the birthday kid to Chucky Cheese.

I eat at Red Lobster about once a month, and I always order the Crab Alfredo.
As far as fried shrimp, I can make that myself much cheaper.

LOL!! How true! Chucky's is such a horror that even Red Lobster would seem
elegant and refined by comparison.

No idea. There are no long any of those restaurants here in Maine, and
frankly when they were here I really couldn't understand it. Needless? to
say I have never eaten at one.

Red Lobster restaurants in Maine would be like bringing
coals to Newcastle. You've already got the best lobster
in the country, why settle for a bad imitation?

Ironic. The RL and BB are right next to each other up the road.

Hardly. They serve different clienteles. It's probably more efficient
from a corporate standpoint to have them near each other...you know,
management by looking over the shoulder is still strongly encouraged
among the less fortunate nations.
