Just about anything they can think of. Year after year, more rules for
things you can't do. Go to the oceanfront and there are many rules for
bike riding, skating, skateboards, carrying radios turned on, clothes
you can't wear. No unleashed dogs now (contrary to what c-shenk said).
Actually, no pets of any kind allowed. No walking with a snake around
your neck. lol. No surfing in many areas, no swimming in high surf. Even
in the surfing areas, no surfing in high surf. The best surfing days and
we are not allowed to surf. Those idiots. We always ignored that one.
Police would eventually show up and whistle us out of the water. We just
waved and kept surfing. Eventually the cop would give up and go away.

Horses crap a lot, and especially when they are in the water. I used to
trail ride in Algonquin Park and were weren't supposed to take the
horses in the water. There was a problem with their crap on water plants
that the moose eat.

Even before the "no horses" law was created, no one drove their horses
down here anyway. No farms that even have horses other than way down
south and they didn't transport them up here to ride on the beach.

OTOH, I've seen horses at the beach here occasionally. Those are ridden
by police...down the boardwalk and on Atlantic Ave. Although those cops
are on active duty, the horse thing is mainly a tourist attraction,
summers only.

Yes, they are allowed. Main tourist season, restricted to above 42nd
street and below Sandbridge.

As to the surfing, the tourist area has bad rip-tide spots. When one
develops, they restrict it from that area.

Riding a bike through masses of people on the sand who can't even get
6ft away from each other, is insane. It's restricted to sane hours
when the beach is mostly empty. Clothing can't display things like
'**** You Asshole'.

It would be preferable to think that they are promulgated in response to
a problem.

For example, some fool fell into a fire on the beach and was
badly burned. So a regulation against fires was needed.

On a crowded beach there is no safe grill or safe fire. We have a lot
of coastline in the US and I'm sure there may be some thinly populated
places it would be OK but not in VB or the Jersey shore during the
tourist season.

Correct. One of my friends has beachfront property (private) and he
does have a brick pit for grilling or a fire but they only use it for
partys when it's getting chilly.

They have grilling areas, just not 'where ever you want to bring your
own'.

Fires, no but plenty of our campground areas have calderas for beach
fires. Keep in mind this is a tourist spot, similar in ways to
Waikiki. The sands would get all messed up if everyone as allowed to
start a fire where ever they wanted to, then they'd dup sand on hot
embers and folks not knowing, would burn feet on them. I know of no
public beaches anywhere, that allow building your own fire 'wherever
you want on the public beach sand'.

beaches encourage ukelele style, they'll even dig some pits. What they
