My local grocery store Schnucks won't let call in to see if they have a specific thing like Hershey's REAL Chocolate Syrup, so I guess I have to go see!
I bought some Schnuck's FAKE chocolate syrup and it's gross! I used it a while but got sick of it and threw it in the trash! Yuck! ::-( John Kuthe... |

A different more upscale Schnuck's And because I have a 100% electric car I will NOT burn any more gasoline to do it! Hershey's: Ingredients: high fructose corn syrup; corn syrup; water; cocoa*; sugar; contains 2% or less of: potassium sorbate (preservative); salt; mono- and diglycerides*; xanthan gum; polysorbate 60; vanillin, artificial flavor. Schnuck's: Ingredients High Fructose Corn Syrup, Sugar, Water, Corn Syrup, Cocoa. Contains 2% Or Less Of Each Of The Following: Mono- And Diglycerides, Artificial Flavor, Preservatives (Potassium Sorbate, Sodium Benzoate), Salt, Xanthan Gum, Phosphoric Acid, Polysorbate 60. What is more "REAL" about the Hershey's? What is more "FAKE" about the Schnuck's? Neither contain cocoa butter. Hey, who needs cocoa butter when you've got mono- and diglycerides? Berryhill (ALDI's brand): Ingredients high fructose corn syrup, corn syrup, water, cocoa processed with alkali, sugar, contains 2% or less of potassium sorbate (preservative), salt, mono-and diglycerides*, xanthan gum, polysorbate 60, vanillin (artificial flavor).. *adds a trivial amount of fat. Plus, while you're at ALDI you could get high quality ice cream. https://www.aldi.us/en/products/froz...lla-ice-cream/ > > > John Kuthe... --Bryan |

Hershey's Real Chocolate Syrup doesn't taste much like chocolate. My guess is that you'd be able to make a better tasting syrup at home. I have tasted the Fox's U-Bet syrup too and they both have a weird acidic type taste to them that throws the taste off. |

We always make out own. It is simple enough. Combine cocoa powder and granulated sugar. Add some water. Bring it to a boil and let it boil for a minute, remove from heat and add a little vanilla extract. It is easy and delicious. Way better than the commercial stuff. |
