It's a Dodge - most unusual! My dad only bought Dodge. I don't know why. I tried to get him to buy a Toyota or a Hyundai but no deal.

Funny how people have brand loyalty. I worked for in our district garage
for more than 10 years and we had a fleet or more than 250 cars, pickups
and trucks. Given my experience there and elsewhere, I would never buy a
Dodge-Chrysler product. When it came to cars and pickups, the Fords
were by far the most reliable and longest lasting.

The only really good Big Three car I ever had was my mother's old Buick.
Given my experience with Ford dealerships, who treat their franchise as
a license to steel, I won't ever buy another Ford. Nor would I buy
another GM. Other than my mother's old Buick, the only cars I have owned
over the last 25 years have been a Mazda, two Hondas and a Toyota.

He used to have GM cars. I can recall a Cutless Ciera and a Chevy Lumina. I used to have to replace the front brakes on those cars frequently. My guess is that he would use the brakes more frequently than most people but mostly it was because the brakes were designed to do that.

My guess is that he got dissed by one of the dealers and vowed to never buy a GM product again. That, I suppose, was fine with me.

I have a 9 YO Chevy Aveo5 that has never given me a single problem except that the clock is messed up.

There's a FB page where I refer to him as He Who Must Not Be Named, and no one has asked. About $1700 to get the bodywork and paint repairs done.

But she's PRETTY again! 100% And with about 200,000 miles on her mostly as a local electrician's work truck she still runs pretty good! And sounds fantastic!

I'm not familiar with U.S prices for body work/painting, but I expect
it's similar to Australia. Which means it probably cost as much (if
not more) than the car itself did.

Well, I hope you don't have any more major expenses on it. You
probably would have been better off selling it and buying another car.

It's no benefit to you to become emotionally attached to what is a
very common and low value old car that will only continue to
depreciate in value.

with inanimate objects in the past.

T-boned somebody, and this time just for the **** of it, for a car

He's also had to get towed once from Bum****, Missouri because he
ran out of electricity. And another $2,000 to install 240V AC in his
garage to charge the car he's wrecked twice.

Did I miss anything? Anybody?

I'm sure he recently claimed the latest damage to his Leaf was caused
by a 'hit and run' driver? When I saw the damage, it made no sense,
given the context of his claim.

LOL. Holy ****. It's genuinely sad though (for me at least) to watch
John gradually **** away his inheritance like this. He could have been
financially secure, probably for life, if he handled his finances
sensibly.

It wasn't until he went overboard and started outright attacking me on the NG with his "narcissistic..." crap that he became my enemy. John seems to blame me for much of his disfunctionality, like I was some kind of villain. You want there to be more drama than that, but that's it. We went on one vacation together because we both liked kayaking, though for me it was more casual. John was, and maybe still is very skilled at kayaking, and we paddled water way above my competency, but the overwhelming majority of our interactions were on Usenet.

I don't *write novels*. I wrote one book, and began the prequel even before finishing the first. Prior to that, I'd never written as much as a page of fiction in my wife. John isn't interesting, just oddball, and while he felt that I played a big role in his life, he played a minor one in mine, and while my life has been eventful, any sort of memoir would be very boring.. My book, however, is not boring. You should endeavor to read it. It's awfully well written, the best thing I've ever done. It's clever and funny, but best described as a *literary romantic comedy*. Literary and romantic comedy are pretty much mutually exclusive in novels. While there is a mystery, there are no murders. There are no inspiring dogs, no violence, no conniving, backbiting women, and while sex is pervasive, it's lacking in erotica. No bodices are ripped, and no women are seduced by dukes or princes.. While it's heavy in character development, and there are emotional crises, it relies mostly on dialogue, with little flowery descriptions of setting. It bears little resemblance to throwaway fiction of the sort that successful throwaway fiction authors fill pages with. It's Brautiganesque in seaming together comedy and tragedy, and at the same time a throwback to the novels of DH Lawrence.

The ethics violations are clear. I never presented myself for care, and never agreed with a diagnosis being shared with the whole world. It is likely more appropriate to refer to him as an incompetent
registered nurse who cannot find or keep a job in his professed profession.

You really have to wonder about psychiatrists. Only a few of their
mildest cases ever seem to be cured. The rest are just medicated in an
attempt to control their antisocial and inappropriate behaviour.

You could say the same of doctors in many fields of phyical
medicine. Some patients make a full recovery but often there's no
permanent cure, just medication to control the symptoms.
