I have been to a few latke parties over the years. Good stuff.

I've never been to a latke party but grated potato pancakes are
delicious. My paternal grandmother was German and yes, way back in the
family, Jewish. (She grew up in Pennsylvania Dutch country.) Grated
potato pancakes with a bit of grated onion, pan fried until crisp and
browned. Wonderful! Top with sour cream or apple sauce (or not). It's
part of a Hanukkah tradition but my grandmother just considered them
really tasty potato pancakes. She didn't make them at a specific time
of year.

Grated potato pancakes are excellent although might be an acquired taste.
Some make it without flour but I use it for binding.

Must try them again when I'm prepared to risk putting on weight.
