When I was hitchhiking through CA in 1974, I got picked up by this Chicano guy. So we start talking and he notices that I have an accent. He asks me where I'm from and I tell him Canada. Then he asked me why I spoke English. Don't they all speak Canadian there?
Had he been under the impression that we all spoke French, that would have been a tad understandable. But Canadian?
