Default Tater Tot Poutine

I had that for dinner. Yes, you Canadians are probably horrified but it was
good!

I loosely followed a recipe. Hot, crisp baked Tater Tots topped with
coarsely chopped (slightly warmed) sharp cheddar (had no curds), a mix of
chicken and beef gravy with a little onion and parsley, and sliced green
onion.

That hit the spot on a chilly day!

Hehehe. My friend used to eat fries and gravy. It's not something I want
often. But it was good!

If that's the case, you might want to hit that "CC" button.

Julie, Im French Canadian, I didnt grow up eating poutine, but I discovered it as an adult. Theres a great Canadian Restaurant in the next town called Chez Vachon that makes the best poutine the regular way, fries, delicious gravy, and covered with cheese curds. Tater Tots actually sounds good to me "cause I like them, any good gravy works, and luckily I can find curds around here. Ill give them a try.

There are lots of different types of Poutine(I haven't had it for years), but the classic is still fries, curds and gravy. There is even bacon maple poutine.

I didn't make those fries. They were probably dredged in seasoned flour i.e., a dry process.

Anything but "ranch".

The abomination of this planet is some chunks of blue cheese is tossed
in some "ranch" and called "blue-cheese dressing".

Homemade "thousand island" is great, if done right.

I like ranch. Preferably homemade, but at restaurants where I'm fairly
certain their vinaigrette will be bottled and too sweet, ranch is a
safe alternative.

> The abomination of this planet is some chunks of blue cheese is tossed

You're probably right about that. I don't like bleu cheese, but my
husband does. He makes creamy bleu cheese dressing that's mostly
mayonnaise and milk. I run in horror from the kitchen when he breaches
the containment on the bleu cheese, so I've got a vague notion there
also is Worcestershire sauce and perhaps a dash of Tabasco. I'm sure
there are one or two other ingredients.

He also likes crumbled bleu cheese on a salad with a red-wine-vinegar
dressing.

> Homemade "thousand island" is great, if done right.

Oh, yes. I don't much like Thousand Island anymore, but the best
one I ever had started with homemade mayonnaise. The guy who made
it wouldn't give me his recipe because I wouldn't swear never to
make it with Hellman's.

Hot fries immediately followed by cold olives is good, too.

I've never seen ranch dressing in blue cheese dressing.
