My cousin invited me over. Yummy. Along with a nice rice pilaf. The chicken was seasoned, then floured, dipped into egg wash, then bread crumbs. Fried on one side, and then the other, then finished in the oven. It wasn't deep fried. I didn't even put any lemon juice squeezed on it. I usually put lemon juice on breaded foods, but this chicken didn't need it. KFC, back off!

I prefer lime, it can be nice with chicken, seafood or in some rice or even noodle dishes. |

I usually put lemon juice on breaded foods, but this chicken didn't need it. KFC, back off! I had some huli huli-chicken. The chicken was famous when I was growing up. It's grilled chicken that's traditionally sold for fundraisers. The chicken I picked up in a church parking lot was a benefit for the Knights of Columbus. The Knights drove there on motorcycles. When I pulled out of the parking lot, there were 5 guys on big bikes pulling in. If you see guys wearing funny clothes and riding fat Harley's, they could be KoC. Huli-huli chicken in the old days was half-chickens soaked in salt water and grilled over kiawe wood. That's it. It was damn delicious. These days, the chicken is probably basted with a light shoyu and sugar marinade. When people try to make HH chicken at home, they marinate it in all kinds of stuff.. This effectively changes it to barbecue chicken - it's certainly not huli-huli anymore. These days, huli-huli chicken is not able to compete with $5 Costco chicken so my guess is that we're in the last days of huli-huli chicken. I paid $25 for 4 half chickens. https://www.amazon.com/photos/shared...HLIS_JeLk8bYaZ https://www.foodnetwork.com/recipes/...recipe-2125134 |

I wouldn't do that on chicken. That said, if you can find a good brand of lemon-pepper blend, that can be very tasty on chicken. I'm sure that blend uses the lemon peels, not the juice. |

I wonder how it would taste on slow-smoked chicken. |

I don't know, but a restaurant I worked at had barbecue ribs and we always served the rack or half rack with a wedge of lemon. Lemon is good on stuff.. Also of course on Schnitzel. |
