Looks like I will be available that day. Post the details. I would

Thanks, Charlie. Sounds like alot of fun! I am Orion, just forgot to
change my newsgroup name. My computer caught the flu and I had to reload
everything, including all my settings. Bummer. I'm going to New Orleans
sometime in June, but it will probably be later in the month. I have not
been to Bartos, sounds Spanish? I look forward to it.

Just wondering...
who is attending this little party?
And have we decided on a location yet?

I'm thinking about driving into NYC, because our commuter rail line has been
plagued with problems, short trains, late schedules, due to the intense cold
we've been having.

So I need to plan where I'll park, if I do drive in.

It's this coming Saturday already!

Please advise.
Thanks

I'm just waiting for Jack Schidt, who volunteered to find us a
restaurant, to get back to me. I'll email everyone when I know
anything. I believe he's looking in the theater district...or Times
Square? <shrug> My knowledge of NYC geography is a mite challenged.

So far, you, Curly Sue, Rodney, Fred, Bill, Kristen (possibly
Kristen's BF) and moi.

We were in the smoking section at the time. I forgot to bring chairs.

The cook-in will probably be either the first or second weekend in June. I
hope you can make it!

David and Katherine Barto have a new house in Poway. They had been planning
it for years and we got news of progress at every So Cal cook-in. It
designed, in part, with cook-ins in mind and is perfect for our needs. We
were very worried when the Sandy Eggo fires were raging through Poway a few
months ago. Fortunately their beautiful new house was spared. We had a small
cook-in in October to innagurate the house. Last year we had our regular
cook-in at Readah's house in Ocean Beach. Readah and her husband are in the
process of moving away from Sandy Eggo. <sigh> I am sure that they will try
to make it to the cook-in though. I'll post more info the minute I get it.

Best,
Charlie

Hey! Welcome back to SoCal. Are you headed up north? Is your car stuffed to
the gills? ;-) I have to head up to Fresno before too long for a week or so.
I dread the drive.

Good luck getting those folks going! Used to have at least two get togethers
a year in the SF area. The last one up there was, I think, at Tammy's in
Sacramento. I talked to most of them a few months ago and many of them are
planning on attending the San Diego Cook-in in June. I hope you can try to
attend too. Keep us up with any progress you make organizing something in
SF. Some of us SD and LA rfc'ers like to make it up that way.

I hope it turns out well! I know we talked about making this, at the
last cook-in. But we haven't communicated since then.
I am very happy to be back in California: I was getting very sick of
the cold and the snow and ice. Now I am wearing my sandals again, and
short sleeves!

Yes, my car is stuffed to the gills. And I stuffed it even more this
week. On my way through Houston, I stopped at Penzeys, and bought a
boatload of spices.
And this past Saturday, I went to Surfas. I bought a Bron Mandoline
there!! I am so excited: I have to find something to use it on as
soon as I unpack.
I am trying to get an assignment here in the LA area, but interviews
are being rather sluggish.
I am making the drive up to Sacramento tomorrow. I know what you mean
about that drive!

Dear One and All (and that includes NYC area RFCers who remain on the
fence):

Thanks to Jack Schidt, we have a restaurant that should appeal to
everyone: Katz' Deli: 205 E Houston St, New York 10002 •
212-254-2246. 11:00 a.m., unless anyone has any objections. The guest
list so far: Jack Schidt, Curly Sue, Sheryl Rosen, Stan, Rodney, moi,
the DH and possibly my daughter and her BF. Let the partying begin!

Hey, Gloria - any good news for us? Bill wants to treat your brunch
for the excellent tour guiding by you and your DH in December.

Hey Janis! Lurking eh? If you and Rich set a date and if I 1) have enough
money and 2) am feeling well, I will try to make it! I missed Tammy's event
and was seriously bummed. Haven't seen you and Rich for quite a while! I
hope you guys can make it down to Sandy Eggo this time. I'm sick and tired

is going to be June 12th.

Well, girls and boys, the DH and I leave out of John Wayne in SoCal at
oh dark thirty for NYC. Have to get up at 4 ayem, but we're flying
first class and I reckon I can make up for the inconvenience by
drinking mimosas for 5 straight hours. May need a nap upon arrival,
however :-) And thank God for car services. Would not care to reprise
my last trip into Newark last December <shudder>

See you guys at 11 ayem on Sattidy at Katz' on Houston St. Anyone else
suddenly shake free, just show up!

I'm not really sure entirely. I do know it got really hot and escaped from

I'm up for that, Christine. I haven't met any of the RFCers yet and was
thinking June is pretty far away and that we could do a lunch/brunch
somewhere in the meantime. My only problem is that I have no personal
transportation. I bus it. In fact, I will be finding someone to take w/me
to the June cook-in, so I can get there!!!

Cheers

Hey, that sounds good!
If my car is cleared out, I could transport you. You just have to be
navigator, since I don't know the area very well.

Maybe we should morph this thread into one that says Lunch/Brunch
