Default Pricing fine chocolates

Hello RFCers!

I've been Googling around "pricing fine chocolates saint Louis MO" and I got a few rough prices per LB:

See's: 1lb- $26/lb
5lb- $130
Price's: 15oz- $30
William Sonoma: WOW!! Stupid expensive!! Like $100/lb or more!

I think I'm gonna charge like $20 for 1/2lb (4 cherries) and $40 for a full lb (8 cherries), and I have to see how much shipping is!

What thinks RFC?

Â* I think I'll stay with the cherry chocolates from Walmart for $2.50
for a box of 10 . I also think you're ****in' insane to think anybody is
going to pay $2.50 EACH for mediocre home made chocolates .

Isn't that $5 each? I wouldn't pay that either but anything sold by
Walmart will be a science project that makes you light up in the dark
and grow a testicle on your forehead.

ROFL!! Um, $5 a Cherry! YOU DON'T KNOW THE WORK THAT GOES INTO MAKING THEM! I DO! I Invented them, so if you don't want the best Chocolate Covered Cherry, OK! More for the rest of us! After all, they are 4oz EACH! Mostly by weight chocolate. Real Dark Chocolate, 54%.

Something is wrong with your math. Upstream 2 posts you said:

>> $40 for a full lb (8 cherries)

The $40 = 8 * $5, but 8 * 4oz is 32 oz = 2 pounds, not 'a full pound'.

(Not that I'd complain about 2 pounds delivered if a pound was advertised.)

Speaking of Walmart: anyone watching Golden Globes? The new Walmart commercials ("no matter what
you drive....") have blown me away. So inventive, and so unlike Walmart's usual. Good for them, even if
I am never a customer.

I'd not eat the ones from WalMart if you gave them to me for free. Had
one once when my MIL bought them. It was nasty.

Now you may not want to pay John's price, I understand that, but to call
them mediocre when you never saw or ate one is wrong too. They are much
larger than the typical ones in the stores.

Nasty is right! I'll never forget once at a boating takeout on or near Christmas and someone had a box of those nasty CCCs and was passing them out to folks and my nephew and I both took one and after the passer was away from us, as we were standing near the campfire my nephew tossed his cheap CCC into the fire declaring "I will not eat an inferior chocolate covered cherry!"

Exactly Ed!! My Chocolate Covered Cherries are NOTHING like the baby safe chocolate covered cherries others make and sell!

Oh, I messed up my weights and costs!

Small box, 4 cherries: 5.6oz. Large box 8 cherries 10.25oz.

I'll adjust my prices later. It's late tonight and I'll think about it tomorrow, or whenever!

Maybe $20 for the large box, eight cherries 10.25oz and $10 for the small, four cherries 5.6oz? Seem fair?

Â* Just stickin' a needle in his bubble , Ed - and that only because
he's such an arrogant prick most of the time . I don't know which brand
of WM chocolates you got , these are Queen Anne branded and really are
quite good . I get the dark chocolate variety , don't know what the milk
choc ones are like . I don't eat a lot of candy , mostly dark chocolate
and these things . But we do love our cakes and cookies ...

I have no problem shopping there. I'll have to look out for the
commercials. You've got me curious now.

Speaking of commercials... Geico most always has interesting
ones. Have you seen the latest where that family is sitting at
the dining room table in vibrating chairs? So funny, especially
when they show "gramma" trying to eat and the food just sloshes
onto her chest. lol

WTH? ;-D

Pricing by opinion is a good plan. No business acumen required. How is
it you don't know about shipping cost? Shipping calculators are readily
available and you have shipped them previously.

For the past 20+ years I've been using USPS to mail out 2# boxes of my Christmas Candy, sometimes multiples, to many places in the U.S. and even to Australia!

So I know how much$$ shipping can be!

Yes and we hate it when the packaging and shipping is more costly than
the product. Maybe a lemon aid and chocolate stand in front of your
casa? With what appears to be limited production maybe word of mouth
like my favorite tamale maker. She sells out immediately to friends and
family by word of mouth only.

Our government is managing quite well at not making a profit on
marijuana. They legalized recreational pot back in October and figured
that would be a way to reduce crime associated with the black market and
allow them to tax it. It is currently available for sale only online.
Today is the day that the province is accepting applications for the 25
retail outlets that it will issue by lottery. The reason that they are
only issuing 25 licenses is that there is not enough supply to license
anymore stores. Meanwhile, they have announced a crackdown on the
unlicensed outlets who seem not to have a supply problem.

They have also decided that pot should sell for $10 per gram and then a
tax on top of that, plus sales tax. Given the high price and the small
number of outlets, I don't see how they expect to put the black market
out of business.

If you want to conquer the international market, perhaps it's
time to eschew your quaint US metrics and switch to grams.

The pricing seems fair considering the positive reviews seen here. You
don't mention shipping though. Presumably the large format is not close to
the limit imposed by the law of diminishing returns since your prices per
weight in both formats are quite close.

GoDaddy doesn't care what you do, or what domain you choose. They just
want your money.

It's funny. I also enjoy the Allstate commercials which encourage you
to protect yourself from mayhem, like me.

I think nobody is going to buy them. You just think you can put up
a website and people will come flocking to your site to buy
overpriced, illegal chocolates made in unsanitary conditions before
the local health department find out?

1 review from his first customer who got them for free (for the

Except that the stores are too big to walk, among other complaints

Hows that other domain you bought through Google working out for
you? Are people flocking to that site yet?

Definitely the ridiculous size. Need to hook a canteen on your
belt to shop there. Rollerblades or skateboard would work well
too. They wouldn't like those but good luck to any employee
trying to chase you down. lol

What other complaints do you remember that I've made? I think
that's it. Many complain that all they sell is junk. That's not
true at all.

Do you have a .org registered prior to setting up GoDaddy hosting?
Pretty sure anyone can get a .org - profit or not.

And many .whatevers don't make a profit anyway. The product makes the
name not the other way around nor does the domain extension make any
difference in your mission or brand.

I use GoDaddy's online free web building tool. They want to be to PAY for using Wordpress, which I do NOT want to pay for! I had to pay Godaddy for the domain name AND server space on a GoDaddy server, which I understand because I do NOT want to host the KutheChocolates.org website on a 24x7x365 server in my house!

The first time I was in the Walmart in Honolulu, I was mesmerized - it was so huge. I suppose they sell some junk but so do all stores. Mostly, they sell stuff you want or stuff you need to get a job done. It's the stuff you use for a while or stuff you consume. That is the nature of stuff. The only things that I have that's not stuff is my wife and some guitars. I would like to keep them with me for as long as I can, please. So far, so good...

When I go into a Walmart it is because there's stuff that I need although I usually end up getting some junk that I don't need, or even want. Such is the nature of the business of Walmart. A lot of it is shopping on a recreational level.

The Walmart in Honolulu is typically filled with palefaces from the East and West. Evidently, it is a tourist destination. If you want a tan, you can go to Waikiki beach, it you want to be mesmerized, if you want to be awestruck, you can go to the Walmart in Honolulu.
