That's always been my biggest fear...twisting the cap so hard
that the glass breaks just below the cap, resulting in a 'cut to
ribbons' hand and a serious trip to the emergency room. I don't
know if that's ever actually happened to anyone but it sure would
suck if it did happen.

I have an old round rubber grippy pad that I can use. At least
that protects the hand somewhat if the glass did break.

If the small bottle of extract had been used before I'd run it under
some hot water. Some extracts are bound to be sticky and the cap might
need to be loosened. I sure wouldn't bash a bottle of vanilla extract
against a wooden table.
