Sushi might not be all raw but it counts on dipping sauce to save it. IMO, just a trend except for the Japanese. I don't like French cheese? I like all cheese. Well not the smelly kinds.. Wine with food is great if the cook/food is inferior. Wine makes anything taste good. If the food is actually good, you cheat yourself by eating drunk. When I'm in the mood for that certain taste, McDonalds does it for me. They are not the best burgers but the taste is unique and I love that. You can't (or should not) compare McD burgers to others. Apples and oranges. Keep in mind too...as much as I defend McD, I only eat there maybe once ever 3-4 months. |

It's a rice dish. That's why I said someplace (maybe upthread, maybe another thread), that rice is crucial to the quality of sushi. All that stuff people think of when they think of sushi? It's garnish. Cindy Hamilton |

Jap food seems ridiculously simple and small to your eyes because they see things differently than you do. The see natural objects and their foods as having a life of their own. You see objects as lifeless dead things. It's no wonder that you have to engorge your belly with dead meat to feel anything. Your food has no spirit within. https://www.tofugu.com/japan/katsuobushi/ |

It's cooked and then shredded with a fork so the flesh looks a bit like spaghetti noodles. I've never cared for it because no matter how you cook it, it's crunchy. There are many different types of squash other than zucchini/courgettes which is a summer squash. I make a baked yellow squash casserole (also considered a summer squash) which is quite delicious. I make soup using roasted butternut (which is a considered hard shelled winter squash). Baked acorn squash, also considered hard shelled. All very tasty. ![]() Jill |
