I made a pot of red beans and rice with 1/2 lb. sliced andouille
sausage. I've got a pan of cornsticks in the oven. A nice combo on a stormy summer evening. ![]() Jill |

It finally ended by 9 so I could goto the bank to make a deposit. It was a large amount of cash and a 2-month-old check. First time ever, they asked me for an ID just to deposit to my own account. WTH was that all about, I wonder? I even asked why my ID to make a deposit. She (new person) said "to make sure you have the right account." I told her that I SURE wouldn't be depositing all that money to a wrong account. Anyway, I got it done but that was odd. |

Red beans & rice is a Cajun/Creole spicy dish which includes a lot of seasonings. So does andouille sausage. There is nothing *blah* about it. Really, you'd rather bring home McD's than try something new if your "wife" told you she was making it? You sound like quite the catch! She said the first time she was a bit timid sitting there eating by herself but now she marches in like there is an entourage following her. Hahahaaa |

Yes, quite the mess last night. I'm a bit ****ed off. Don and I (and daughter) spent a lot of time stacking wood over the last 2 weeks and the stack fell over when the ground soaked. That was about 32ft of wood stack. We didn't have it based right with bricks and with all the rain, they sunk in under the weight of the full racks. |

I >ate a lot of meals on my own. It was better to have company, but eating >alone is not the end of the world. There have been many occasions when I'd eat out alone, however if possible I'd choose a tavern that serves good food and I'd eat at the bar, so I wasn't really anymore alone than everyone else eating alone at the bar. Occasionally I still do that on days when I don't feel like preparing food at home and my wife is teaching school. There is a very nice German tavern in the next town, there are tables and booths but at the bar there's a big screen TV. Anything on the extensive menu can be ordered at the bar. At lunch time the bar is mostly occupied with construction workers and there are interesting conversations. I don't mind going out to eat lunch alone but I don't enjoy eating dinner out alone. A lot of people go out to eat lunch alone but at dinner time at restaurants there are couples and groups so someone eating alone stands out like a sore thumb/a leper. And even at taverns, in the evening patrons at the bar are there to get loaded and are lets say boisterous. At lunch time the construction workers need to go back to work so maybe they'll have one drink with their lunch, usually one beer... most just have a soft drink. |
