I concur. Even food related topics should have a meaningful subject
line. Just plain courtesy.

Once a thread is started nobody can control where it goes. Period.

Which just takes carries it further which is a total waste of time. Also,
you can't dictate what others do with the subject line. Ever thought of
that?

Yes, you can't dictate. But you can point out courteous behavior and
hope for the best. Give up much?

Actually, each person who replies (as I am now!) controls where the CONVERSATION goes!

See?

No, you can only control yourself, I might want to take it to somewhere
completely different which YOU have no control over. I would say this
CONVERSATION is over, but if you carry it on, there's nothing I can do about
it. See how that works?

But you can stop talking when someone disagrees with you. As you are
wont.

Precisely! Yeah, in Usenet you cannot say "this conversation is over" but HOW MANY TIMES IRL do you SAY that? I'll bet hardly ever. You CAN however CHOOSE not to reply on Usenet.

See how that works? :-)

Cheri quite often says that to me. She has trouble handling
disagreement. Which is when I say to her: "To each their own!"

Bring up Trump -who she admires- and see how quickly she'll end the
conversation.
