Costco Italian sausage sauteed with peppers, onions, and seasoned
tomato sauce piled onto hoagie rolls with asiago cheese and home made olive giardiniera. Make mine a double - two links nestled in a semi-hollowed out hoagie roll, cheese layered underneath so it melts and protects the bread from getting soggy. https://www.flickr.com/photos/sqwert...ream/lightbox/ USDA Prime chuck short ribs (Costco, of course) in a 147.3F sous vide bath for 48 hours. They'll be ready Friday. https://www.flickr.com/photos/sqwert...ream/lightbox/ -sw |

When you say Costco Italian sausages, do you mean Premio? That's my brand, I'm really fussy about texture and taste and I only get that brand. I don't buy it from Costco, however, the sausages are bigger (good) but it's really a large package and I don't have a spare freezer. > Make mine a double - two links nestled in a semi-hollowed out hoagie > roll, cheese layered underneath so it melts and protects the bread > from getting soggy. > > https://www.flickr.com/photos/sqwert...ream/lightbox/ > > USDA Prime chuck short ribs (Costco, of course) in a 147.3F sous vide > bath for 48 hours. Brisket and chuck, or skirst steak and chuck, it all depends. Spring might really be coming. I think. nancy |

No doubt a good sandwich. Personally I might have skipped the tomato sauce as I've never been a fan of that on sandwiches. I have made many sausage, onion and pepper sandwiches on italian loaf bread. Only seasoning was S$P and it was "to die for!" I bought a meatball sub once at a good local place. Good but I didn't care for the tomato sauce on that one either. It's just me. Note: I've noticed at least lately, if you express an opinion you always need to follow up with a "IMO" least you offend people that tend to get offended with everything that they don't agree with. Sadly, that's trending these days. ![]() |

Sadly, that's trending these days. ![]() People (me included) get a little testy when it looks like someone is dogmatically declaring that liking some food prepared or eaten in some way indicates that one is stupid or lacking in taste. We tend to forget that it indicates that the writer of such an opinion is stupid or lacking in taste (and manners). Cooked peppers are anathema to me; tomato sauce on a sandwich is perfectly fine, if not something I'd be likely to order or make. At least not recently. I used to get a ham and onion "pizza sub" at a local place. It was delish. Cindy Hamilton |

How good a local place can it be that they prepare their sandwiches in advance... must be one of those Roach Coaches... a saw-seege sub is my usual and the local place will prepare it however I specify, I always order lots of peppers, easy on the sauce, no onions, no cheese... if I said no tomato sauce that's what they'd prepare. My wife's usual is meat-a-balles, extra sauce, no cheese, no onions, no peppers. Every Italian restaurant I've frequented prepared sandwiches to order, even the local supermarket deli prepares sandwiches to order. |

Hold the peppers and cheese, please. There's really only one pepper strip on here, three in the whole batch (only had 1/5th of a green pepper). Think beyond the box, Sheldar. I had never had a meat-a-ball sub before and many told me that they were good, so I just asked for a meatball sub. First and only time I've had a sandwich with tomato sauce. I liked that combo on pasta...just didn't care for it on a sandwich. Whenever I go there I always buy the same 2 favorites. These are 12" subs: - Tuna fish with cheese (add hot & sweet peppers + x-tra onions) - Grinder (add hot & sweet peppers + x-tra onions) Both are toasted in the oven to crisp up the crust a bit. When I get these, I'll eat half of each for a hefty meal. Along with salty Lay's Classic potato chips. The other 2 halves = 2 nice snacks the next day or two. Zero's is a local place, family owned, not a chain. They are the best at the beach and very good eats. https://zerossub.com/menu/ |

I'm also not buying that at your age you never before ate a meatball sub... any dish with meat-a-balles automatically comes with tomato sauce unless you tell them to 'hold the sauce'... their menu specifies sauce, you had plenty opportunity to say NO SAUCE! I swear, you eat like a toddler. |

![]() Federal taxes are due tomorrow (postmarked by April 17) Friday, I mailed a 6-month "Extention to File" form. I'll be getting a refund but just to lazy to deal with that so far. heheh Now I have until mid-October to file. At that time it's nice to get a deposit into my bank account. Certainly don't worry about interest on that refund that I lose in up to 6 months more. Bank interest rates are insanely low and stupid these days. |
