Oh, Cheei, I don't know if we can be beasties after all...your favorite movie ends
with the title character being drawn and quartered? {{{{shudder}}}}. History be
damned, I don't need to see it on the big screen....even if only implied.

Happy holidays! ;-))

Oh thanks,Cheri! (not)
I read this just this morning and it reminded me
of a traditional Christmas song.
"It's beginning to feel a lot like Christmas..."
Now that song is stuck in my head and I've been
silently singing it all morning. Arrgghh.

;-D

Ps - oh well...it *is* almost Christmas so
at least the timing is right.

As I was channel surfing this a.m. I ran across a program about
Christmas movies. They showed quick vignettes of each movie I had no
idea that there were that many Christmas movies -- dozens and dozens.
And some of the traditional ones were never meant to be regarded as
Christmas movies. Was an interesting show.

For the last month one channel has been showing them back to back. I
tried watching one but after a few minutes of "syrup", I had to give up
or throw up!

IMDB lists 5,305 movies with "Christmas" as a keyword, although the
connection between "Suicide Squad" and "Christmas" eludes me.

Oh yeah, I do like the traditonal ones like the original Christmas Carol,
Christmas Story, Mary and Joseph, and so on. I have been watching Hallmark
Christmas Movies, but they are a little much with la-la, however I love the
snow scenes that are usually in them. I always get a kick out of Christmas
Vacation too.

Probably the Hallmark Channel around the clock with them for the past month
or so. They are a bit much.

I hate the commercial for some kind of car where the father sings "brought
some candy so the kids won't fight." It just grates.

=======

If I'm in the room I can FF or mute, but a lot of times when these
commericals come on I'm in another room.

I fear that I may well have permanently indented it by now.

No, what happens is I'm in the kitchen and the remote is elsewhere and...

Grrr.

The singing starts so fast I can never catch it in time.

Best X-mas car commercial:

"This is Carol Of The Bells by Trans Siberian Orchestra"

....will watch with no complaints and great appreciation for seasonal
simplicity and true elegance...

And yet he was passed over by the Oscar voters.

Actually, it was the Women's network but might just as well have been
Hallmark because I'm sure most were produced by them.

So very many times...

http://www.telegraph.co.uk/culture/f...n-history.html

As Peter O'Toole dies at the age of 81, Tim Robey gives his verdict on
the film career of an actor disappointed a record eight times at the
Academy Awards

Lifestyle punishment perhaps?

And Burton too?

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=od9U...96dAVF&index=2

http://www.walesonline.co.uk/whats-o...times-10956108

Did missing out on an Oscar 7 times make Richard Burton Hollywood's
unluckiest actor? In the ratio of screen time to trophy wins Burton
seems to have been robbed - but was he?

Ah. If I'm likely to leave the room, I either put it on a premium
channel like HBO or play something on the DVR. We hate commercials
a lot.

Roger that, same here.

Mostly the pause button will suffice, followed up by quick skip.

But not always if it's a sporting even that others are watching live,

Then I'm damned doomed...

Point taken. We don't watch sports, except for the occasional
curling match. It's very relaxing.
