I am not sure about the battery life, and don't know about getting
spares, but at a get-together I was at the other night, one of the
people had a great big recharging station for his phone.

I asked him what the point is in that, didn't that need to be plugged in
an recharged as well.

He responded that it was a much bigger battery, probably 5-10 times more
capacity than a typical cell phone battery.

It also had some solar panels on it, and thus if it could be kept in the
sunlight, it would not even need to be plugged in at all.

In terms of size, it was a bit bigger than a phone, but it was about the
same size as a Kindle (mine is about 7" by 4" or 17.5cm by 10cm), so i
guess it is not really "great big," just a bit larger than a cell phone.
