Have mentioned this before I think, but felt the need to repeat it.
I think Las Vegas is one of the best food cities in the US. No matter what kind of food you want , they have it, and it is about the best you can find anywhere. Each time I go I am amazed at all the wonderful places to eat. |

At any rate, nothing that I want to see or do. Cindy Hamilton |

I had some great meals when I was there, though I didn't get to plan where to eat since it was a last minute trip (funeral, really, my one trip to Sin City was for a funeral). The one thing I wanted to do was a Las Vegas style buffet and we weren't even competent to find one of those. nancy |

The fancier the casino, the better the buffet. Las Vegas is a place you should visit at least once, preferably for a better occasion than your last visit. |

It's a town that shouldn't exist but does! I don't plan on going back there but I'm glad I did. Las Vegas is the place that Hawaiians go to when they want to relax. Strange but true! |

A while back we were going to LV and I was checking room rates. Just for the fun of it I plugged in different dates for the same room. It varied fro $50 on Monday/Tuesday to $500 for New Years Eve. I'd not want to be there during CES as rates are high and places are crowded. We used to go once a year for a work meeting and also I have family there. In about 15 visits I've spent about $50 on gambling. I wonder why I never get comped on rooms and stuff. |

All depended what was going on at the show, the popular nights really raised the rates. > We used to go once a year for a work meeting and also I have family > there. In AC, sometimes I come home with more than I had, and I just play poker slots. You can have fun with a few bucks in AC, but the odds in the big casinos in Vegas, just hand over your money and save yourself the trouble. It's an interesting place, I would go again. nancy |

There's excellent fishing and all sorts of water sports. If you love to shop it doesn't get much better. If you enjoy people watching like I do nowhere else offers better views of the most spectacular boobies on the planet. |

I can see museums and botanical gardens (really? in the desert?) elsewhere, I hate to shop, and I don't like people. I see that smoking is permitted in many public places. That's a showstopper for me. My last vacation was a long weekend in San Francisco. That was very enjoyable. Gosh, has it really been 20 years? We generally spend our vacations working on the house. This summer I expect to take a week off to gut the bathroom. Rather than spending my hard-earned money on ephemera, I spend it on capital improvements. Cindy Hamilton |

I've spent many a vacation working on the house too, but there are times it is better to get away for a few days. But there is more to life than work. My guess is you'd also enjoy some of the old buildings with great architecture. I like to look as some of the details and imagine the workers doing it. Take a week and head to Europe. Some of the buildings, churches, museums will blow you away. Good luck with the bathroom. We did both of ours a couple of years ago and enjoy it every day. But plan to get away next year. |

Oddly enough, since I sit at a desk all day, working with my hands alongside my husband is like a vacation. > My guess is you'd also enjoy some of the old buildings with great > architecture. I do like architecture, which is why our vacations (such as they are) are generally focused on older North American cities. > Good luck with the bathroom. We did both of ours a couple of years > ago and enjoy it every day. But plan to get away next year. Why break my 20-year streak? I don't really even like to travel: planes, trains, automobiles, hotels. I find that really stressful. DH gets enough of it with his job, so he's pretty content to stay at home. He's been to Hawaii about four times, and each time I could have gone along (for at least part of his trip) quite cheaply, and each time I declined. Once or twice he went to England. Since I'm such a poophead, and went all negative in this thread, by way of apology I'll OB FOOD so everybody can see what a pathetic loser I am. Last night's dinner: faux (very faux) Buffalo wings: grilled chicken breast, cut into strips and tossed with a little melted butter and hot sauce. Ranch dressing made by stirring some Hidden Valley mix into a little labne, with "baby" carrots and celery sticks. Glass of ice water. Cindy Hamilton |

Glass of ice water. I quit buying the overpriced wings years ago. I now eat either eat buffalo whole chicken or the last time I made them (I think it was Easter dinner), I had Buffalo chicken thighs. Cooked, tossed with the butter and hot sauce then with Marie's Blue Cheese dressing to dip in. |

Yesterday I prepared a 3 1/2 lb family pack of skineless bonless chicken boobs. I take the time to clean them of all extraneous fat, remove that tendon, and slice each into three cutlets.... season with s n'p, 'talian herb blend, and fry in EVOO... served with whole red skined spuds, nuked and chopped frozen spinach, nuked. The leftovers are in the fridge, will make very nice sammiches. |
