Barbecue (alt.food.barbecue) Discuss barbecue and grilling--southern style "low and slow" smoking of ribs, shoulders and briskets, as well as direct heat grilling of everything from burgers to salmon to vegetables.

Default Las Vegas Q

Just relocated to Las Vegas. Anyone know of any decent Q places? I recall a
post long ago about a good place.
Thanks in advance

Memphis Championship BBQ. Two locations. One is in the Santa Fe Station
casino off Craig Blvd. I can't recall the name of the other street, maybe
Jones or Decatur, but they are in the phone book. They cook with real wood.
You have to go in through the casino to get to the restaurant even if you
are getting takeout.

You can do as well at home making your own. You will have a hard time
getting wood in the desert though. Not far from the Station I saw a couple
of big piles sitting in the yard of a supply house. I don't recall the
street names, but it is south east from the casino.

You can get good doughnuts in LV at Lamar's. Better than KK, IMO.

I just can't figure why anyone would voluntarily live in Vegas though. I
have to visit a couple of times a year and it is plenty for me.

Don't know about the Q there but it should be easy to get your bone smoked.

Lamars donuts make the trip to KC worthwhile for sure--just wish someone
would franchise one of them closer to me--then again maybe it wouldn't be
that good an idea<SF>

memphis championship bbq - several locations - a couple in casinos, and
2 stand alone with eat-in and drive-thru.

big mama's bbq - never been - one location. heard good things. check the
yellow pages. in a questionable part of town (so it should be good)

Subject discussed in this thread:
http://tinyurl.com/2vxxn or search for the "Good bbq in Las Vegas"
thread in May 2003.

Updates since then:
Memphis has three locations in town. Santa Fe Station, North LV Blvd,
and Warm Springs. NLV location is remodeled. Great root beer on tap.

I buy my wood from the same outfit as they do, Allied Wood Products,
but it's not the place Ed saw.

H&H burned down. The fire was not their fault.

Master's Barbecue in Henderson is supposed to be good. It's all
hickory. There are a few more places, but I can't verify their "real
Q" status.

The best Q in town comes from the hunk o' Kamado in my backyard.
Buckingham's is a close second.

....or Jerry E's, but it's definitely from a K.

If you're in town, I will! Just reply here with a contact.
