Mine is spinal issues where I can't sit too long or I sort of 'solidify' and can't stand or walk too long (lose all ablity to bend in the spine which can make shopping for groceries pretty interesting). Normally folks take it in stride with no issue at all when i need to get up and walk a bit. My normal bit is 'Sorry, still listening, but bad back and can't sit too long'. With regular groups who know that, no need to mention it. They already know I can't stand too long. -- |

Trying to be calm here. Julie has not mentioned any specifics related to this but I have. Spinal issues can easily lead to, can neither stand nor sit too long at a shot. Quite common. You have to get up and walk a little every hour or so, and often can't stand in comfort for more than 15 minutes. How long each one type limits, depends on the conditions involved. -- |

This is true. She posts a lot about her medical issues. Me, I work with my successes and don't let it get me down. I have a fun little plan for tomorrow. We have a local yahoo group and we schedule sort of meet-up type things, normally around food or food shopping. I have 4 folks (actually 6-7 as some are bring a spouse or older kid with them) meeting with me at a local small but interesting hispanic shopping place. They carry quite a few things hard to find locally including some specialized cooking gear oriented the making of some special hispanic foods. HUGE selection of dried bean types and only place I know of to get Canary beans. There's a curry blend special to Jamaica (SP? I know I botched it) that works really nicely with a lot of things. They also have fresh, canned, or powdered Horchata and some very fine sausage types more typical of mexico. We'll meet up and wander the isles for about an hour then take off to a local place called Mi Casita. A down to earth mexian place with a kitcshy exterior but some very good food and good service. Have lunch, then a few may want to see a local Japanese store (owner comes from Sasebo!). Lots of goodies in there. We will have fun and no one will care if I flip out the seat on my cane to rest a bit at an interesting shelf. (I don't need the cane normally for anything else, but I am taking to using it when shopping now as it's easy to carry and flip out at need). BTW if looking for a simple one (you or anyone else) that doesnt cost an arm and a leg yet works, here's the one I got. http://www.amazon.com/Folding-cane-c...B006JPYVRI?ie= UTF8&psc=1&redirect=true&ref_=oh_aui_detailpage_o0 5_s00 Now you'd upscale a lot if you needed it all the time, but for me it is an occasional use item. I don't think I would trust it at 225 lbs but since I'm 123-125, it's fine. Carol -- |

Back to the original topic of produce shortage. Sorry, not around here. Not seasonal local produce and not imported produce. I've not seen any particular shortages of anything. You have to admit, she seems to have more problems with things like this than anyone else on RFC. She's got more grocery store choices than I do (even if she only just takes her mother to one of them). I don't know anyone else here who has so many problems shopping for food. Jill |
