Yep, that's one thing out of town guests couldn't understand when taking
them to SF and telling them to bring a jacket or sweater, because it might
be hot as heck here but when we get to SF it can be quite a different story
in a fairly short distance, actually cold.

I've only been in San Francisco once. It was an overnight layover on
our way to Bangkok. We (my parents, my brothers and I) walked down the
street from the hotel to a restaurant for dinner. There was a chill
wind blowing. We ate at a Chinese restaurant (sorry, I was nine years
old, didn't pay attention to the name of the restaurant or even what I
ate). We were seated at a table near the door. It was a busy place and
every time the door opened we got a blast of cold air coming in from the
outside. I *do* remember wishing I had a sweater! This would have been
in August... so still Summer on this continent.

Prolly why you don't know the old saw about San Fracisco being colder
in the Summer than in the Winter. Mostly true.
