I like Tbird for both and email and usenet client; I've been using it for years with nary any problems. Sky ================================ Kitchen Rule #1 - Use the timer! I've used pretty much every newsreader for Windows and most for Linux and I think Agent is the best all rounder out there. There are more powerful readers such as X-News but Agent has the right balance of sophistication and ease of use IMO. There is likely a way to filter that somewhere in the setting up of message filters. Me, I try to pay attention and simply delete the other groups when I see something has been cross-posted. Then I k/f the troll who started it. As for Graham's problem, he needs to check under settings/server settings. Make sure "Always Request Authentication" is selected. I was getting that same error (Not allowed to post). While trouble-shooting I had deselected that option and it gave me that same error. Then again, I was also having issues with the news server which is why I was fiddling around with the Thunderbird settings in the first place. Jill |

Being cross posted to a number of groups is usually a pretty good indication that it is going to be something weird. |

The advantages of this should be obvious - the size of one program would be smaller than two programs. For me, it's just spiffy since I don't have to switch between programs. It is most convenient! It's also got an awesome set of filter if one is into that. I filter my email but not Usenet. OTOH, the disadvantages are equally obvious - most people aren't interested in Usenet and this means that as a email program, it's footprint might be on the large size. OTOH, my guess is that in a short while, we'll all be using web-based programs for mail and newsgroups - unless Google pulls the plug on Google Groups. |

The times I've tried any Mozilla based email client for Usenet, well, it invariably gets messy. |
