That's my point. They're just two different ways to accomplish the same goal. I'm not telling anyone else that their religion is any more true or false than any other way of worship. I'll acknowledge your point about chargers and synching. Keeping a charge on the phone isn't really much of an issue if you're vigilant, but I _have_ gotten to the supermarket a couple of times and discovered that the list I composed on my computer and saved to my cloud account hasn't made it to the smartphone. And at my age, I find that I've always forgotten half a dozen things when I get home and check. |

It takes me one swipe and two keypresses to bring my list up the first time I access it, which I do before entering the store, then just one swipe each time the phone times out. LOTS of people just press ONE button. The reason you're not buying it is you don't understand the cost structure. |

LOTS of people just press ONE button. So you are one of those people with a phone glued to your hand? I use a paper list. I glance at it once or twice in the store to make sure I haven't forgotten anything. I don't need to hold my phone constantly and touch a button when it times out. How silly. I have NEVER seen a person using a phone in any store except for talking on it. I don't understand that obscession either. I've never seen one just looking at it, either texting or looking at some silly e-list. My paper list doesn't lose power....ever. Remember sf had that "phone losing power" problem when she got her first smart phone. Didn't she need to carry an extra battery around? |

My Pure Talk cell phone needs one button press to turn on and a menu pops up, one more press brings up my phone book. Pure talk is only $5/month with 80 minutes... I have it more than a year and am yet to use it except once to call my land line to check that it works and it does. It's perfect for me as an emergency phone, I wouldn't use it for any other reason... my entire life I used a phone maybe three times when away from home and was a pay phone... only got the cell because I don't see pay phones anymore. I take it with me when I leave home but it's never turned on, no one has the number to phone me anyway. I remember to charge it about once a month. At the time I signed up (Walmart) the Samsung phone was free). Each month they bill my Visa credit card $5 and send me an email for confirmation, easy peasy. https://www.puretalkusa.com/ |

I've used a paper list all my life, why tamper with perfection... I keep a note pad and pencil in my kitchen, makes it easy to jot down stuff I want to buy at the moment it occurs to me, seems very stupid to need to remember to type it into a phone later, most times later never comes, the item gets forgotten and never gets typed. I see people on phones everytime I shop (actually I hear them first), they talk so loud and such stupidity... everyone in the store needs to know that Emily is knocked up and doesn't know if it's her step brother Tommy's or grandpa Zacks's... we're hoping it's Grandpa Zack's, Tommy doesn't work but grandpa owns the farm. |

I was at the Safeway Pharmacy last year and some young woman was having a huge argument with someone using her cell, just shouting it out and the language was terrible. I finally told her to take it somewhere else! I hate listening to all that crap that can't be avoided when you're waiting in line etc. Calling to ask about a certain brand or something is one thing, but all the personal calls...accchhhhh! Grin, locally I dont see folks using a smartphone to check a list off. We might be a bit slow on that though? I call my husband though to check a stock of something on sale possibly 3 times in the same trip. Thats only on my bigger trips (roughly 6 weeks apart) unless I see something like a suprise special on some oddball item (Cat litter, non-clumping tends to generate a call). I make small trips of generally fresh veggies and fruits every 2 weeks between the bigger ones. Carol -- |

I call my landline from my cell sometimes from work. I can punch in a code and listen to any messages left on my answering machine. I can also say something when the machine says leave a message and the ferret will hear it as it's near her cage. Sometimes I will call to say hi to her at lunchtime. heheh |

A cell phone for emergency use should be on your person at all times when leaving home. |
