Our trip to California was great, but we had a really bad start. We had
no problems getting over the border to Buffalo or getting our first set of boarding passes. The deal was to fly Buffalo to Newark and then Newark to Orange County. Our plane was late arriving. There was an announcement that we should come to the counter because we weren't going to make our connection. They decided to send us on to Newark, then Newark to Chicago and then to Orange County. When our plane finally arrived it unloaded, loaded up and taxied out the the runway and sat there for a long time before taking off. Then when we got to Newark we sat on the tarmac for about 20 minutes while they waited for a gate agent so we could disembark. We ended up missing the Chicago flight. We had to wait 5 1/2 hours for a direct flight to Orange Country. When that flight boarded and taxied out we got stuck in a queue for take off and the pilot had to remind air traffic control about the 10:30 curfew at Orange Country so they let us go ahead. Instead of arriving at 4 pm we landed just before 10:30 pm. We were supposed to have gone out for supper with my brother and his wife and some of their friends that night but we ended up not getting to the hotel until almost midnight. |

I bet there's some fine print somewhere in the ticket purchase where the airline says "We don't promise to do jack for you, and by buying this ticket you're waiving your right to demand so much as a packet of peanuts. Suck it, or take the bus." You know, something like those software terms and conditions that everybody clicks through. Cindy Hamilton |

When we were checking it at San Francisco the other day the lady behind us was trying to get back to Orange County. Her flight had been cancelled the previous day, and they wouldn't do anything for her. |

It's jes the airlines will bend you over in a heartbeat and jes keep yer $$$$ w/o a second thought. I've only flown commercially about 3 times and on two of those three flights, I got severely hosed. Some of the people who were at the wedding flew direct from Toronto to LA and paid a heck of a lot more than we did. Then they had to make their way back and forth between Newport Beach to LA, about an hour away. It is generally much cheaper to fly between US cities than to fly from Canada, and Buffalo airport is a lot closer for us. It takes about 50 minutes from house house to the Buffalo airport. Toronto is at least double that when the traffic is moving, which seems to be never in Toronto these days. It also means having to arrive only an hour ahead for a domestic flight rather than the three hours early for an international flight. I was worried about my son making his flights. He had insisted on dropping us off and picking us up, which was nice, but we were not scheduled to reach Buffalo until midnight and he had to be back at Buffalo by noon the next day to fly to Moscow, flying first to Atlanta, then to Paris and on to Moscow. He had only a half hour between his Paris ETA and his Moscow departure. He barely made it. |

As Poe would say, "Nevermore". ![]() They sure are cutting corners to reduce those ticket prices. You used to be able to take two bags. Now they charge $25 for the first bag and $35 for a second one.....each way. They hand out complimentary head sets but you have to pay about $5 to get the programs for two hours, or $8 for more than 2 hours. There is complimentary wifi, but all you get is one page that shows the flight information and a map of where you are. There are free soft drinks, but you have to buy food, and it is expensive. |

Boy, that sounds like a real drag. I have to cross the ocean in a big tin can going hundreds of miles an hour and several miles high soon. Hopefully, it will be uneventful and uncomplicated i.e., we won't explode in a huge ball of flame and crash into the raging surf below. ![]() |

After having met you twice at casual austin.food gatherings 2 or 3 years ago and not giving you any indication that there was any sort of romantic interest in the least, you somehow twisted that into MY MOVING IN WITH YOU? That was just way too Psycho for me. I sat there at stared at the screen for at least 15 minutes wondering, WTF? That was just way too spooky. I've met weird, semi-psycho women before but you win, hands down. Mapi of austin.general still holds the male title, but at least he announced his psychosis right there lying on the floor of the bar at B.D. Needless to say, you need to come to terms with what happened and why your mind works that way and stop making up excuses for your fixation and disappointment before we become the next Yoli and Michael. I'd prefer you use a sniper rifle on me from a few hundred yards away. There you go - a reason for you to buy yet another gun and ammo. And Jeremy, I was just tired of your decade of bullshit and visions of grandeur about all these things you're "working on" or have not done in the past. Even posting a call for meetings with imaginary people about imaginary projects of yours at "the normal time and place", as if you are somebody important with a life. I'm pretty sure you're manic depressive mixed with habitual liar. Sorry I don't fit either of your Ideal Psycho Pal Profiles. -sw --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- |
