I don't think 2 weeks is enough to cause a problem.

Of course it is. He may be assessed a penalty. Nothing to be done about it
now but wait.

To "taxed and spent," I had to pay estimated tax one year, and totally skipped
two of the four payments, making up the missing money in the other two I did pay.
I never heard a word from any tax official. But maybe it is different for people
who are required to make quarterly estimated tax payments every year.

It would seem so. But the replies given earlier that it doesn't matter are
erroneous. Being short on one of the timely payments can lead to a penalty.

The people at the IRS are actually very helpful. When my brothers took
off with Mom's money and stuck me with the taxes the IRS did their very
best to try to find a way to help.

Small amounts for a couple of weeks may be overlooked. Legally, they
can charge the going rate for interest for every day late. That happens
when you miss completely.

What's happening at OOM? I never had problems before last week. The web
site was fixed for a day or so and now it's broken again. At least the
app is up and running, but it's easier to use the computer keyboard to
make entries.

No it does not. The clock starts when you file.

Right, but they usually don't do it unless you don't file.

Where do you get your information? If you file and don't pay, you will get
a penalty and interest.

If you fall behind in your quarterly estimated payments, you will get
penalized.

Two weeks may not sound like much to the tax experts on a cooking group, but
it is easy pickings for the IRS computers.

Tax accountant. Personal experience some years ago.

I know people that have not been penalized. Not sure of the amounts
involved, but not in the tens of thousands of dollars.

The IRS does not go year to year. They only care about *this* filing year.
So long as you paid up you'r egood to go. What could happen is that if your
payments are very large then you might get a letter telling you to tighten
it up.

Absolutely nothing to be concerned with.

Do you have a good reason for being late?

You pay a prorated penalty at tax return time. It is taken from the
refund. Nothing else happens.

Never heard of that and it has never happened to me. I pay sometimes only
twice a year. Been doing that for 24 years now. The IRS only really cares
if your payment is less than 90% of what you owed last year.

If you don't pay the correct amount at each quarter, so you fall behind in
what your estimated payments should be, the IRS surely cares. And this is
something that takes no human intervention - the computers ding you.

There is the question on your return as to the dates that you paid
your quarterly tax. Perhaps it is a matter of correct reporting.

You have been filing to pay the correct amount each quarter for 25 years?

I can think of no contemporary American family more twisted and evil
than the Bush dynasty.

The Bush family’s rapacious greed and depravity can trace its lineage to
New England’s Pierce family. Both George Herbert Walker Bush and his
wife Barbara Pierce (of Merrill, Lynch, Pierce, Fenner and Smith), as
was President Franklin Pierce, are descended from this same family.
Originally the powerful Percy family, they changed their name to Pierce
and quickly emigrated to America when Thomas Percy’s involvement in the
Gun Powder Plot to assassinate King James I was revealed.[*]

Bush’s membership in the shadowy Yale secret society of Skull and Bones
(S&B) has likewise not been widely reported. S&B is made up of members
recruited exclusively from the ranks of the wealthy Eastern
Establishment.[*] As Hoover Institute professor Antony Sutton writes in
America’s Secret Establishment: An Introduction to the Order of Skull
and Bones:

“Those on the inside know it as The Order. Others have known it for more
than 150 years as Chapter 322 of a German secret society. More formally
for legal purposes, The Order was incorporated as The Russell Trust in
1856. It was also known as the Brotherhood of Death....”[1]

Many historians claim that S&B sprung up as a direct extension of
America’s oldest Greek-letter college secret society, Phi Beta Kappa. As
Sutton writes:

“The Order is not just another campus Greek letter fraternal society
with passwords and handgrips, common to most campuses.... Chapter 322 is
a secret society whose members are sworn to silence. It only exists on
the Yale campus. It has rules. It has ceremonial rites. It is not at all
happy with prying probing citizens.... Above all the Order is powerful,
unbelievably powerful....”[2]

S&B members occupy key positions in commerce, media, diplomacy,
education, espionage, finance, law and politics—having a profound impact
on world events. As Sutton adds:

“Among academic associations, the American Historical Association, the
American Economic Association, the American Chemical Society and the
American Psychological Association were all started by members of the
Order or persons close to the Order.... These are key associations for
the conditioning of society.... The phenomenon of The Order as the first
on the scene is found especially among foundations.”[3]

Go lease a Chevy then, greaseball.

At a ceremony in Dearborn, Michigan, Henry Ford is presented with the
Grand Cross of the Supreme Order of the German Eagle on his 75th
birthday. Henry Ford is the first American recipient of this, an honor
created a year earlier by Adolf Hitler. This is the highest honor Nazi
Germany could give to any foreigner and represents Adolf Hitler’s
personal admiration and indebtedness to Henry Ford. The presentation is
made by Karl Kapp, German consul in Cleveland, and Fritz Heller, German
consular representative in Detroit. Ford is the only American mentioned
in Hitler’s book “Mein Kampf”.

The IRS computer system is not so advanced. It is still roughly 8 million
lines of COBOL written originally in the mid 70s. They only care what you
paid for the whole year. Now if you are a corporation, that is a whole
different ball of worms.

Agree. Hubby told me you need to be paid up by the 15th of April. I
suppose if you aren't, you can always file an extension.

Yes, but to avoid a penalty you have to pay all of your estimated taxes by
that date. Then you have unil October 15 to file.

They don't seem to care just so it's all in by Jan 15.

If you were audited and they went back and matched your earnings month
by month to your payments they might ding you but short of that they
have bigger fish to fry (ob cooking!).

Preposterous, as a general proposition. You must hit your quarterly
payments on time and in their full amounts, or you are subject to penalties.

Yes, subject to, but not always imposed. There may be a secret formula.
Just like the highway with a speed limit of 65 mph. I set the cruise
control to 70 and go by a couple of radar traps with no problem. I'd
not try to do that at 73 though, or whatever the magic number is.

IRS may not bother with a $500 missed payment but will jump on $XXXX.

Your answer makes the most sense. I am SURE they don't want ppl floating along and then zinging in a big payt on Jan 15th, anymore than a landlord will let someone live there for a year, and pay no rent until they fork over 12 months worth. Right?

I pay a bit MORE than I am likely to owe come april 15th and usually get a smallish refund.

Wrong. What is the big deal here? You asked what would happen and several
people with decades of experience said the exact same thing. What will
happen is exactly nothing at all.

Keep that number small because the IRS does not pay interest.
