Here's mine. I've been using it a long time, it's always been a hit.

That's much more traditional, and all I'd add is some lime juice and
zest for tang.

Nice.

Oh... I didn't see that one. Will have to look. Costco used to carry some
Carne Deshebrada that was yummy! They stopped carrying it. I could get the
same brand but much less in the package at Top Foods but it was very
expensive and they are no longer in this area. One of them has changed to
Haggen which I am familiar with but not sure that they carry that item.

Thanks! I will save the recipe. Sure does call for a lot of ingredients.
And I currently have no agave nectar. I always had it when I was eating a
raw vegan diet. Not even sure where to get it now. Maybe Whole Foods. My
favorite health food store is no longer.

Of course. As soon as word got out that you were off your vegan diet all
the places where you used to get it stopped selling it or went out of
business.

If you have a Trader Joe's, you'll find it there (probably not as
expensive as at WF).

I try to avoid them. It's never a pleasant experience. And not near here.

I think I've also seen it at Safeway.

Those stores are so small and so popular it can be a real fight to shop
there - great stuff though.

Ours is very small and always seems to have several wacked out customers in
it. Usually a couple with a kid that they let go feral. It's hard to find
parking and hard to get out of the spot due to so much traffic through the
lot. And it almost always involves a very long wait in line. Actually the
last time I went in, I didn't have to wait at all. I think Whole Foods took
away a lot of their customers.,

Just substitute sugar or honey (maybe start with half as much, and
adjust to taste).

If you really want to use agave, I've seen it at Aldi's.

Agave nectar is available almost everywhere. Even target sells it.

Your life is shitty, and you want to share the shittiness.

OK, if you like the taste of it, go for it, but anyone who thinks that
AGAVE NECTAR HAS SOME HEALTH ADVANTAGE OVER SUGAR OR hfcs IS FULL OF SHIT.
(caps lock)
The smartest choice, if one doesn't dislike the taste, is pure sucralose.
But, oh, Julie, or the chunk off the old blockhead that she's determined to
keep fattening might for some reason reject that.

Geeze, who cares? My opinion about why the agave nectar was on the
ingredient list is because it sounds like a Mexican ingredient. Corn
syrup doesn't have a Mexican ring to it. Agave does.

Agave is touted as better for diabetics but it's really not. Makes no never
mind to me as I don't like overly sweet foods so I tend to use a minimal
amount of whatever it is.

A similar dish is tinga pueblana adobada - usually made with pork.

Tinga poblana is a new one (for me). I looked it up, thanks.

Another somewhat similar dish is ropa vieja, "old clothes". More
Caribbean, perhaps, than Mexican. I used to get it in the run-down area
of Pasadena, CA, at a now long-gone Mexican restaurant called "Ernies".
That was a great restaurant.
