A couple of times a year I buy oranges shipped from Florida growers. I
just got another delivery yesterday of Honey Bells, Temple, Naval mixed case. I just had one of the Honey Bells. OMG, it was the juiciest orange I've ever had. My hand was wet from the drips peeling it. Biting into a section of it was almost like a capsule of juice. I'm thinking I should have gotten a larger case. I get min from http://www.floridaorangeshop.com/ but I'm sure there are other sources. I second guess myself when I look at the price compared tot he supermarket, but then when I eat one, I know it was worth the extra cost. My guess these are picked at the peak of ripeness while the truckloads going to big markets are either held in storage or picked when needed (and the price is right), not when ripe. If you like citrus, splurge sometime and try them. |
