Default Nice try Red Robin but...fail!

We tried them again tonight. My mom really wanted to go there. I had
checked the menu prior. They now offer a chili that didn't seem
objectionable. They made it for a while with steak. Nothing wrong with
that except that I don't like that kind. And some years ago they made it
with black eyed peas which to me is just wrong. I did try the chili
tonight. Although it is now made with black beans (menu doesn't say this),
the flavor was good. I don't normally like black beans as being the only
beans in my chili although I have used them in the three bean and corn chili
that I sometimes make.

Where they failed was the hummus appetizer. It is different now and it did
not say that they use an olive oil drizzle. That was my complaint prior.
It had a ton of oil on it and the oil tasted rancid. This time it did come
with a tiny bit of oil around the edge and that was fine. The oil tasted
fine. I really do think they used rancid oil prior. But where they failed?
It said that it came with vegetables and house made kettle chips. The only
vegetables there were baby carrots (fine) and cucumbers. But they cut the
cukes into long, thick spears. The pieces were just too big and unwieldy to
eat. And they never have any flatware on the table when you sit down. They
did put a soup spoon on the plate. My mom tried to cut a piece of cucumber
with the spoon but the spoon just shot out of her hand and onto the floor
beneath the table. So the cucumber went uneaten.

The really bad thing? The chips! They tasted burned and quite a few of
them were tough and chewy. They would have done better to have put a
handful of Ruffles on the thing. IMO, if you're going to offer house made
chips then they had better be better than what I can buy premade in a bag.
Bleh. If I ever order this dish again, I will ask for all veggies and no
chips. And I will ask that the cucumbers either be cut in smaller spears or
in slices which would have been preferable.
