America's Test Kitchen just had an episode on apple fritters and I had a
*duh* moment! They said to keep them from getting soggy, to add the chopped
apples to the dry ingredients and mix them in well. I do know to do this!
I have made plenty of things with fruit in them over the years and always
did this when I baked. But this recipe didn't say to do this and I just
plain forgot! The finished product did in fact turn out soggy by the next
day. Still edible, but a tad soggy. Hopefully these will fare better. I
also a different glaze, the one they did on the show which used apple juice
as the liquid and also cinnamon. They did not add vanilla but I added some.
Still the extract as my beans have not arrived yet. I hope that was not the
missing Fed Ex package. The Fed Ex guy brought me a package the other day
and said that his records said that I had another one. But he didn't have
it. Perhaps it was on another truck? But it never arrived. Everything
else that I have ordered has been accounted for.

Most businesses provide "tracking numbers"...if you didn't save them
then "tough beans" as they say. They go out of their way to assure
customer satisfaction.

I looked on Ebay and the vanilla beans were not sent by Fed Ex. All I know
is that the Fed Ex guy said that I had another package and he didn't have
it. For all I know, it could have been a birthday present.

Everything is accounted for. So I don't know what that package might have
been. But I do know that Fed Ex seems to screw up a lot!

I hate FedEx! We custom ordered a quilt on vacation once to be
delivered after we got home. We waited well past the ETA and finally
called the store. The store said it had been sent (they hadn't
bothered to let us know by phone, email or snail mail) by FedEx. We
called FedEx and they said it had been delivered weeks earlier.
What??? We're on a busy street, packages are stolen if they are left
(nothing in our mailbox saying where it was left either, so it was
probably put right in front of the door). Shoot, 600 pound statues
and potted plants are stolen off people's front entrances and that was
just a package - how stupid can you be??? Neither business wanted to
take responsibility, so we had to call the credit card company to
cancel payment and let them work it out between themselves - we didn't
reorder the quilt. From now on, I will ask if the business uses FedEx
or UPS because I won't deal with FedEx anymore.

I have had their packages delivered to the wrong address and many times have
had other people's packages delivered here. The address isn't always even
close. And several times the package just went missing.

But most online retailers do provide tracking numbers if they use UPS or
FedEx. I don't know why anyone would pay for a tracking number. I've
never run into that scenario.

I've seen where some charge if they send tracking to your internet
device but not if you do the logging on to the tracking number
yourself.

We've never had to pay either, but it might be different here. They usually
send the number via email and sometimes even to our mobile phones. FedX
and UPS both did that, giving us the option of changing delivery dates or
times.

I think Fed Ex just made a mistake. The vanilla beans are in CA, USPS.
There are no other packages missing.

I'm still not making it up. I order online a lot from clothes, to
household items to hardware. I can't shop the way I used to. I really
have had order confirmation emails saying they don't supply a tracking
number unless you pay extra. Amazon not included.
