Default REC: Apfelküchle (Apple Fritters)

Apfelküchle (Apple Fritters) - a German recipe
Serve this with coffee and/or with a vanilla sauce or wine custard.
This recipe comes from Schwabia.

1 3/4 cups flour
1 1/4 cups beer
1 Tbsp oil
dash salt
1 Tbsp sugar
4 eggs, separated
4 Apples
lemon juice
rum
flour

Make a beer batter by combining the flour, beer, oil, salt, sugar, and
egg yolks.
Beat until well mixed.
Beat the egg whites until stiff.
Fold the egg whites into the batter.
Peel and core 4 tart apples.
Slice into 1 inch rings.
Sprinkle with lemon juice and rum.
Dip the slices lightly into the flour and then in the batter.
Fry in a generous amount of fat in a skillet until golden brown.
Remove from the pan and drain.
Sprinkle with cinnamon and sugar.
