But... you're the online food ordering queen! Why wouldn't you order
from Penzeys? They have wonderful herbs and spices.

I like My Spice Sage. They usually have a freebie with orders over 25.00 and
no shipping fees for any amount over 10.00 they do have a small fee of 3.00
if ordering less than 10.00, but really, who would? They ship really fast,
and the quality is good.

I looked at their website and their stuff didn't impress me. I like
American Spice. I'll stick with them.

American Spice also offers free shipping but I can't remember over what
dollar amount. I also get my popcorn oil from them but they stopped
carrying the Yoder's and that was my favorite. I think they went out of
business.

Penzeys is generally accepted as the best. Didn't like them without
even trying. Very American (or childish).

Hey, don't drag America into this! This is a Julie-ism. We're talking
to someone who bought threw out peppercorns (probably improperly stored)
based on a random expiration date. She bought pepper at Costco,
complained about it, later said it was okay and blamed it on old
peppercorns left in the grinder (which at first she apparently liked,
until she replaced them). Don't try to figure this out. You'll give
yourself a headache.

No reason not to stick with what you like. What I like is generally accepted
as the best to me. YMMV

Penzy's mail order is okay for sheeple who may not know about any
other option. If those who live in a metropolitan area (where it's
easy enough to find high quality herb and spices) still choose to shop
there, then fine... but don't pretend it's the only game in town.

They didn't impress me from their website and I disliked some of their mixes
due to addititves. Not childless at all. Dunno if it's American or not but
don't care.

I didn't throw them out based on a random date. The date only confirmed
what I alread suspected. They had lost their potency. I did say that I
found myself having to use so much to get the flavor that I wanted that the
ending dish was gritty!

I don't know for sure what the issue with the new peppercorns was. They
*do* look different but when I looked up pics of them, they look like what
they should. I only know that the first couple of times after I filled the
grinder, the pepper was different. That's why I asked here. There is no
way I could be certain of anything here other than that I bought both
containers of pepper at Costco and both were Tellicherry.

True. And I have not seen anywhere but here that they are accepted as best.
If this were something well known then I might pay their high prices to ship
some pepper to me. But it isn't. So...
