Okay, someone... tell me if you can read this message. (I'm really not
trying to mess with your heads when it comes to newsreaders.)

I'm still not having any luck getting it to download ANY messages. It
doesn't make any sense. I can read other ng's just fine. Absolutely
blank when it comes to reading anything from this ng.

Perhaps if someone replies I'll be able to view other posts.

No one has replied but I still can't get the blasted program to d/l *any*
posts from this particular ng. I've run repair on the folder, unsubscribed
and re subscribed. It's stupid. I can read and post to other ngs without
any problems. I give up.

OB Food: Pan fried 6 strips of bacon (I'm a fiend for bacon), then added
those sliced canned potatoes and fried them in the drippings. Yum! In the
same skillet I then cooked two eggs over medium. Not exactly breakfast time
here but who cares what you call it? The leftover potatoes will be
re-crisped to accompany a cheeseburger for dinner.

Jill,

Might I suggest that you delete this newsgroup and then re-add it to TB?
Since many of us don't have the problems you seems to have (I just got
an update to TB before logging in here) perhaps the problem is with your
news server and not the newsreader. Who are you using as a news server?

You probably have the wrong "view" selected. I know nothing about
TBird. In Agent, you'd toggle the binoculars above the TOC on the
Message List tab and choose "not ignored".

Thanks! But I still can't use T-Bird to read or reply to any existing
messages from *this* ng. It simply refuses to show them to me. It sucks.

Try using another newsserver (say eternal-September). Just add another
account to tbird.

Eternal September is currently having problems with connections from Tbird, if
there is any effort to use SSL. It seems that a security certificate expired, and Tbird did not make any effort to download a new version of that certificate.

Hmmm. I have ES as my backup, not that one really needs a backup
with NIN. I wonder whether what you say is also true of (related)
Seamonkey.

Kinda sounds to me like maybe they don't carry this ng? If you can't read
or reply, that might be the case.

She's using NIN, which many of us use.

Using which newsgroups server? Eternal September has been having problems, especially with Thunderbird, lately.

news.individual.net is the news server. T-Bird works for the other two ngs,
just not for *this* one. I really don't understand it.

Got the port and other info I'll need to add that? Also, is it free? NIN
isn't but it's a cheap annual amount and they usually have very good
support. Of course they're in Berlin so I don't know when they're
available.

I am really dumb about this stuff, but I have always read through the
list of newsgroups carried by the news server before I chose a news
server.

I think usenet-news is having trouble, too. I keep finding duplicate

I can see your message. I noticed, though, that when you posted a follow-up
to yourself, it did *not* show markers for quoted text (same problem the WLM
causes, and I think it was one of the reasons you are trying TB). I gave up
on TB long ago.
