Default Dinner, Friday night 6/8/10 LOL!!! sorry.

I forgot to take a 'before' picture. Here's the aftermath.

It was a perfectly cooked T-bone steak, au jus sauce, mashed
cauliflower and fresh local asparagus.

I gnawed the bone it was so good.

LOL

oh, and a really nice cabernet sauvignon to go with it.

I am a happy camper.

I know how you feel. I made a chicken marinade last night that I
haven't made in way too long. Man, it was delicious... but it's not
something I'm happy about scraping off my grill pan. I hate cleaning
that thing! I need to get myself another charcoal grill instead of
just threatening to do it.

I'm making a marinade now for some chicken breasts that I'm going to
grill off tomorrow.
What did you put in yours that was so yummy??

It's Asian style. Hoi sin, soy sauce, sesame oil, fresh garlic
(finely chopped or grated), fresh ginger (grated) and onion (grated)
are the essentials; sherry or white wine optional (if you want to make
it "Hawaiian" style, use coke or 7Up - not the diet type).

Even after being eaten it still looks better than the pictures of most
of the slop that that Sheldon cooks and photographs.

I did something last night we haven't had since last summer and it
always tastes great, especially on the (gas) bbq.. Chicken kebabs. Cube
chicken breasts and marinade them in a mixture of one part lemon juice
and two parts olive oil, with lots of finely chopped garlic, some
oregano, salt and pepper.

Spray the grill with Pam.

Mmmm! What you did (IMO) was a classic Greek/Italian style chicken or
lamb marinade; but I started thinking seriously about chicken kabobs
as one of the burned meat offerings on Father's Day when I saw this
recipe earlier today
<http://www.realsimple.com/food-recipes/browse-all-recipes/grilled-chicken-orange-skewers-00000000056528/index.html?xid=dailyrecnews-06-15-2012>
I think a little lime juice (for sure) and maybe some chopped fresh
cilantro would put it over the top.

Okay, I'm going on a rant - so you either can delete this post or
relax and let it fly past you.

My grill pan is well seasoned and I coated it with real oil before I
start. If that doesn't work, PAM wouldn't either. BTDT. As I've
complained before - my stove is *way* hotter than the gas stoves mere
mortals deal with. My stove's "low" goes to burn way more quickly
beyond your high probably does... so I have a love HATE relationship
with "gas". I love that I can turn the heat off (not that my pans
respond that quickly), but I hate how high "low" is. Fortunately I
have a couple of burners (six burners total) that seem to be more in
tune with what a regular home gas stove's output is like.
Unfortunately, I'm not a lifetime user of gas - so it's a steep
learning curve for me and every little set-back is big fat check in
the minus column, AFAIC.

To be perfectly honest: I *hate* gas.

Say whatever you want, but my opinion is that if you think gas is a
positive thing - it only comes from being a lifetime user of gas and
therefore being someone who can't be convinced to switch. So I'm like
a rabid gas user, only I'm convinced that electric is the one and true
way. Use what you like; I'm not in any mood to be swayed by rabid gas
cheerleaders anymore. I don't care what the circumstance is. I will
probably use gas for the rest of my life because I'm not moving out of
this house, but I can honestly say that I prefer electric and I think
gas is more hype than anything else.

How can anyone prefer a stove that heats up a room more than one that
doesn't (especially in hot weather)?
