Default Chicken pot pie -cheap style

I had some leftover chicken and some broccoli in the fridge to use up.
I braised them with a can of cream of broccoli soup until all was
tender. Then I flattened out half of a can of crescent rolls into a pie
pan. Poured in the broccoli-chicken-soup and sliced strips out of the
rest of the can of biscuits and laid them on top in a lattice.

There you go. Trailer trash hotdish. LOL! Actually I know it will be
good. And a good quick use of leftover grilled chicken and broccoli that
was going to "go" in a day or so.

I ought to be qualified to do trailer trash. We have a lovely trailer out
in the motor home building ready to go. How did the crescent rolls bottom
crust work for you? Did you paint it with just a little egg white to sort
of varnish it and keep it from being soggy? I have a friend who dearly
loves chicken pot pie and she would be delighted to hear that the crescent
rolls was a good and fast pastry.

It had some mushness but what touched the pan was crunchy I didn't
butter the pie pan but I'd bet if you did, it would be crustier. The
top was great. The crunchiness was why I tried to get the canned
biscuits as thin as possible. It was all about the filling but the
crunch was nice.

No offense taken. Trailer trash is a term of endearment among my friends.
We let the pretentious impress each other. Some days there's time to create
a grand meal and some days we've just got to have 'fast'. Polly

If I were you, I'd be especially careful, as I'm sure that Satan
dearly wants your soul. That sort of "cooking" is exactly what he's
looking for in his kitchens.

That sounds good! It is so satisfying to find a use for leftovers.

I'm just finishing a similar quick pot pie (can cream mushroom soup, can
peas, can carrots, can of chicken (I prefer to use leftover baked
breaded chicken for sandwiches)) but used boughten pie crusts as I
usually do. I'll have to buy a can of crescent rolls and try them next
time. I've a ton of pie tins I've saved (no idea why) from past pot
pies.

Thanks for sharing.

That's what i did several weeks ago after brian went on a rant about the
evils of Spam. I went out and bought one. It had also been at least 20
years since I had it. I just did the routine sliced spam on white bread (or
toast) with mayo. A couple of them were on buttered toast (and hold the
mayo). I liked it so much, I bought a second can the following week.
heheheh

Not something I would make a habit of eating but it was good after so long.

I thought it was pretty funny to see a Spam Breakfast Jack on the menu
at Jack in the Box. I was surprised that my brothers in law from the
mainland ordered some. Reports are that they enjoyed it.
