Salad applies to almost anything that is a mixture of things. Think
fruit salad, or that ambrosia salad with the little marshmallows and
cool whip and jello....

But I agree with you they don't sound like anything I'd want to try.
The popcorn and cookies would get all soggy and nasty, unless the
whole thing were mixed up on the spot, I'd imagine.
