i finally saw the campari tomatoes at my grocery in maryland on friday.
(maybe i'd been repressing seeing them before because they were pretty damned expensive, four bucks for eight smallish tomatoes.) so i took some home and had a plateful, sliced fairly thickly, with a dab of mayonnaise, and salt and pepper - my favorite way to eat a good tomato - and i have to say they were very, very tasty. the remainder look even better today (sunday), i think a little redder. so, y'all say they might be this good right along through the winter? that would be nice. your pal, blake |

Certainly head and shoulders above the others I can get here. Not cheap, for sure. -- Barb, Mother Superior, HOSSSPoJ Holy Order of the Sacred Sisters of St. Pectina of Jella "Always in a jam, never in a stew; sometimes in a pickle." Yep. They're not cheap. >so i took some home and had a plateful, sliced fairly thickly, with a dab >of mayonnaise, and salt and pepper - my favorite way to eat a good tomato I saw this and laughed. Louise loves tomato and mayo sandwiches. No S&P, it's gotta me Hellmanns, and it's gotta be trashy bread. >and i have to say they were very, very tasty. the remainder look even >better today (sunday), i think a little redder. Don't let that color fool you! Gobble those suckers up before the neighbors find out you have them. >so, y'all say they might be this good right along through the winter? that >would be nice. The only ones worth buying in the winter. Lou |
