Your, however, calling Obama stupid is rather harsh. After all, he did get good grades in school. Rather, it's just that Boy Wonder is inept and the vast majority of American people NOW recognize that. Of course, I was wayyyy ahead of that curve. Lots of people who voted for him said he was ahead of his time. Well, that's what what they got...somebody whose time had not yet come. That is, make no mistake about it blake, Boy Wonder has smarts and probably would have made for a good pres if he had been a Senator, and maybe a VP, for 10-15 years, which would have allowed him to fill in that empty suit. BTW, welcome to ba.f. Or did you cross-post? If so, thanks for the bigger audience. But I gotta warn you, there's a ba.f netcop bitch on a broom about such things. I was just curious as to where you got that figure, since the Gallup poll shows Obama's approval at 46% now, but it was 48% recently and your sig showed 46% anyway. Here's something which got posted to RFC shortly after the inauguration: | Dear World: | | We, the United States of America, your top quality supplier of ideals | of democracy, would like to apologize for our 2001-2008 interruption | in service. The technical fault that led to this eight-year service | outage has been located, and the software responsible was replaced | November 4. | | Early tests of the newly installed program indicate that we are now | operating correctly, and we expect it to be fully functional from | January 20th forward. We apologize for any inconvenience caused by the | outage. We look forward to resuming full service and hope to improve | in years to come. | | We thank you for your patience and understanding. | | Sincerely, | THE UNITED STATES OF AMERICA Doesn't the innocent ignorant hope expressed there remind you of a puppy? Where are they now, those puppy-like hopeful kids, expecting Change just because a POLITICAL CANDIDATE *said* there would be Change? One statistic I *particularly* love is the fact that missile strikes from Predator UAVs have increased under Obama. was that one of the campaign promises? Does it make the rest of the world love us the way that letter thought they would, now that we have a "fully functional" system? Bob |

"business people", "fair share" and "middle class majority" and cute terms, but not very informative. What about middle class people who are business people? Not everyone in the middle class is a "worker" in the Marxist sense. Some are of the bourgoisie. (Did I just answer my own question?) Also, what is your idea of "fair share" payment for government? How do you rationalize your calculation? None? All? 33 2/3%? 3.1416%? Do you tie "fair share" to income? Gross or net? I invest (am therefore part owner) of a number of companies, who pay corporate taxes. Some are in the energy business, and they pay taxes on oil/gas pulled out of the ground, more taxes on pipeline transfer, and taxes on their sales. When all the taxes are paid, some of what is left is distributed to shlubs like me. Than I have to pay income tax on my dividends. PezBO now wants to tax dividends with a special tax. Don't forget the taxes like the one on gasoline, which is aimed at the buyer..... I am middle class. My plumber is Middle Class, as is the electrician I hire sometimes to work on my older home. I'm retired, they are both business people. See why you're post is unclear? I welcome your elucidation as to how you see this thorny problem.... Alex, not accusing anyone! |

Watching Fareed Zakaria this morning and he showed what >a huge part the Bush & Obama era tax cuts are of the national debt. Obama's promise was "no new taxes except if you're over $250K". He didn't say anything about newly-expiring tax cuts. But, there's going to be little political appetite for higher taxes below that level until the public sector reforms its spending. Not with elections coming up (and there are always elections coming up). Steve |
