We had a lovely chat lastnight on > the phone. When my Mom passed away in 1994 I found an undeveloped roll of 35 mm film, still in the aluminum canister. Took it to a local photo studio (not one of those one hour jobs but a real photo studio) and they developed the film. Turned out to be pictures made the day I was born, September 23, 1939. Pictures of Mom and then Dad holding me as a newborn, really caused a Wow! at our house. Value your Mom as long as you can, my MIL lived to be 100 years old and we miss her now. |

No, you're right about that. The OP fell prey to a common grammatical error. (Two of them, actually.) The dictionary definition of "lest" is "for fear that". So "lest we forget" means "for fear that we should forget", or as it is used here, "so that we do not forget". Cindy Hamilton |
