mares eat oats and does eat oats and little lambs eat ivy
This was asked, in a rounabout way in the thread on oatmeal. It was the
question of the economic sensibility of a single-serve instant serving vs. prepping the cereal in the traditional stovetop method. I think the instant serve is awful; so awful in fact that it would probably have been served in a Dickesian orphanage. I prepare a combination of regular oats, raisins, Splenda, cinnamon, a little bit of salt, a bit of brown sugar. In the evening I put 1/3 to 1/2 cup of the cereal in a bowl, Sometimes I add chopped peeled apple in it. I add the liquid , usually about 1/4 cup apple juice and 1/2 cup water, and let it rest covered over night. In the morning it takes only about 3 minutes to microwave. Hmm, hot oatmeal beats the blast in a flash. ~~~Gina~~~ |
