Default Where to eat in PDX?

I figured the foodies would steer us in the right direction...

We moved here about a year and a half ago. We don't dine out much -
mainly just get carry out from the local Thai place. DH has been
awarded a dinner (for four) of our choice, any restaurant, all
expenses paid, no limit on budget, any place here in PDX metro area.
Our only personal requirements are that it not be Italian or French.
Freshness of ingredients and cleanliness are a must. Where should we
go? It will be adults-only.

TIA for any suggestions,

-L.

Is there an English translation for "PDX"???? Knowing where you're
asking about, may result in more, and more helpful, replies.

In no particular order:

Paley's Place (1204 NW 21st)
Wildwood (NW 21st at Overton)
Higgins (1239 SW Broadway)
OBA! (555 NW 12th)
Bluehour (250 NW 12th)
Caprial's Bistro (7015 SE Milwaukie Ave)
Lucy's Table (706 NW 21st)
Noble Rot Wine Bar (2724 SE Ankeny)
Jake's (401 SW 12th)
Plainfield's Mayur (852 SW 21st)
Veritable Quandry (1220 SW 1st)

Most are contemporary northwest except for OBA!, which has
a bit of a southwest theme, Noble Rot, which can be a little
Frenchy, Jake's (seafood) and Plainfield's (Indian). Wildwood
and Jake's can be a bit noisy.

Three places come to mind:

For really casual dining, you could try the Dog House on 28th &
Burnside for great hotdogs, cajun dogs, etc. despite its limited
venue, it has gotten some awards and it's cleaner than a lot of
places.

For great Chinese food, try Lung Fung at 2025 N. Lombard. And if you
like movies, try McMenamins Theater and Pub at 1716 NW 23rd. For 2$ (I
think it's only two bucks; I haven't been there for a while) will get
you a movie or two that you can watch while eating a meal or drinking
beer from the pub.

And there's nothing wrong with Tony Roma's... :-)

Tony Roma's is okay but a bit prosaic. We had lunch at Jake's which was very
nice...went back for dinner and it was noisy and crowded (weekend) but
certainly could not fault the food either time.

It's the airport designation for Portland, Oregon, unless you're
asking a more surreal question.

up the tab and there's no $$ limit, I'd be tempted to set my
sights a little higher. I like Lung Fung, Dog House and most of
the McMenamins restaurants, but OP can do better with a
blank check.

Three other possibilities:

Esparza'a (2725 SE Ankeny; about a block or 2 south of
E. Burnside on 28th) Tex Mex (how authentic I wouldn't
know, but popular and fairly casual)

Brasserie Montmartre (626 SW Park; about 1-1/2 blocks
north of the downtown Nordstrom's; French sounding name
but not highly French in terms of the menu)

Southpark (901 SW Salmon)

Well, if you didn't want our suggestions, why didn't you just post

The use of "PDX" is kind of a regional thing, I guess. There's also
usenet speak - as in pdx.general ng. I didn't think it was a big
deal because people from here would know what I'm talking about, or at
least I think they would...
