Default Cost Plus has lost its mind

I was in the "World Market" today (they're starting to
get rid of the "Cost Plus" in their printed matter), and
noticed something that may or may not be intentional.

It's definitely intentional that they're reducing their
variety of imported pasta and pasta sauces, and have started
stocking large quantities of a new, "store-brand" sauce and
pasta.

The funny part is, the pasta brand is "Donatella", and
the sauce brand is "Donnaletta".

The question is, did they deliberately name them like that,
or did someone royally **** up an order of sauce labels?

I'd say Royal ****up. Two different people co-ordinating the projects
client-side, and either two different firms doing the label
production/printing/brand extension artwork, or two co-ordinators
production firm-side who didn't talk to one another.

How do you think up this stuff? As it happened, the msg fit on a
single screen but I had to scroll down 1 line to find the salmon. I
always note when something makes me *actually* laugh out loud
(startling the cat).

Sounds like a typo in your publication. See here -

Thanks, but I can't take credit for the serendipity of
the revelation. I try to make the jokes work at all screen
resolutions and contrast settings.

Very few of their products are shown online.

I swear the pasta I saw (Penne Rigati, iirc) was labelled
"Donatella".

And there's nothing on the packages to indicate the true
origin of what's inside them. Just CPWM's Oakland, CA
corporate address.

There is a Donatella brand of pasta - I have purchased it before. But
a quick search brought up nothing.
