Default Q: What to make w/Grand Marnier?

My sis gave me a bottle of Grand Marnier. I used some for Tiramisu.
I made some Crepes Suzette. What else goes well with Grand Marnier?

Next time you roast a chicken, splash some into the pan. Baste the chicken with
the Grand Marnier-infused drippings and then de-fat the drippings for a most
excellent pan sauce.

The following recipe doesn't use a LOT of Grand Marnier, but the
finished product is spectacular...tastes wonderful, too!

@@@@@ Now You're Cooking! Export Format

Strawberry And Grand Marnier Sabayon Trifle

desserts

8 large egg yolks
1/2 cups + 2 T. sugar; or more
pinch salt
1/2 cup Grand Marnier; or other orange liquer
1/4 cup orange juice
1 cup whipping cream; chilled
3 1 pint strawberries; hulled
2/3 12 oz. pound cake; store bought

Whisk yolks, 1/2 cup sugar and salt in medium metal bowl. Whisk in
Grand Marnier and orange juice. Set bowl over pot of simmering water
(do not let bowl touch water). Using electric mixer, beat until
mixture is thick and thermometer registers 160F, about 7 mins. Place
bowl over larger bowl filled with ice and water. Whisk until sabayon
is cool.

Beat cream in another medium bowl until stiff peaks form. Gently fold
into sabayon in 2 additions. Coarsely chop strawberries with 2
tablespoons sugar in processor. Stir in additional sugar to taste, if
desired.

Spoon 1/2 cup strawberries onto bottom of 2 1/2 qt. glass bowl. Spoon
3/4 cup sabayon evenly over. Spoon 1 cup strawberries over cake. Spoon
1 cup sabayon over strawberries. Top with remaining pound cake. Spoon
remaining strawberries over pound cake. Spread remaining sabayon
evenly over strawberries. Cover and refrigerate at least 8 hours or
overnight.

Contributor: Bon Appetit

Yield: 12 servings

Preparation Time: 0:45

(I wouldn't use any other berry than a strawberry, as the one time I
tried mixing in raspberries, the raspberries leaked all over the pound
cake and the leakage did *not* improve the appearance - doh!)

When making cake, use a pastry brush and brush a little Grand Marnier
between the layers or mix some with jam and use that as icing between
the layers. I use sweet liqueurs brushed on slightly stale bar cookies
or cakes to moisten them before warming and eating with ice cream.

Add some to the cream when making creme brulee.

Sprinkle caster sugar over fresh strawberries or raspberries and
sprinkle Grand Marnier over. Leave half an hour and turn with a
spoon to cover evenly. Marinade the berries for at least 1 hour.

Poach some pears in a sugar syrup. Remove with a slotted spoon to a
bowl and sprinkle Grand Marnier over them. Turn once or twice
(carefully) and leave for at least one hour before serving with
freshly whipped cream.

Sprinkle sparingly with sugar and a little lemon juice to crepes.

Use in any fruit recipes that call for Cointreau or other orangy
liqueur. I never have a full bottle of Grand Marnier around very
long - especially in summer!

are losing theirs, you probably haven't understood
the situation.

Oh yeah! I also make it with a little orange zest in the mix. Very
tasty.

Gently cook some whole cumquats in simple syrup until they are soft to a
fork tine, cool to room temperature; meanwhile toast some slivered
almonds, heap a bowl of assorted scoops of icecream. add the cumquats,
almonds and a generous slosh of Grand Marnier, pass out chilled spoons
to your guests and turn on a CD of James Galway. Yep, It's heavenly.....
