The shows are BS. I've seen ghosts - twice. Enough to scare the fertilizer
out of you. It is a very unsettling experience to say the least.

Until you experience something, you're a non-believer.

I'd suggest until two or more people see the same ghost at the same time,
it's a hallucination. That hasn't happened in recorded history.

You can "suggest" it all you want but there are people who say seen a
ghost with someone else. And how can you "suggest" something and then
say it hasn't happened. In other words, you don't really know what
you're talking about, now do you?

The hell it hasn't. I know a guy who was driving down PCH in Malibu with a
buddy and while stopped at a red light a ghostly figure with no legs passed
right in front of the car and then evaporated. Two people seeing the exact
thing at the exact time. Each saw the same thing; a hippie looking guy who
looked like he was trying to say something to them.

When I had my second ghost encounter my GF at the time also saw the exact
same thing; three gray faces with gray hair and gray eyes looking into our
window. She even saw the hairy stubble on one of their faces just like I
did.

"I know a guy who"... hardly sounds credible. Like "a friend of a friend of
a friend said he saw a ghost..."

Manny, Moe and Jack? ;-)

What was your first encounter? In your first paragraph you weren't a
witness to it.

Out of curiosity, how long did your encounter last? Where they gone in the
blink of an eye or did they hang out for any decent length of time?

Getting back to the TV show aspect of ghosts, it's laughable that they tend
to be made in the dark or at night. What, no ghosts at lunch time? And the
ghost psychics, what a perfect stretch of the imagination. It's just TOO
staged to be believable. They're amateurish at best. The programs aren't
making money hand over fist either. A real ghost, caught on real movie film
(not digital), would be worth a fortune! An extraterrestrial would be even
more substantial. [sigh]

I enjoy watching those shows, but I haven't made up my mind yet about
some of them.

I have, myself, seen at least one strange thing (corroborated by someone
I was with at the time) and heard one strange thing (I was alone in the
house) that I believe are paranormal and would be considered 'ghostly'.

I try to look at things logically... (I suppose that depends on your
idea of logic, eh? Ghost hunting is done at night for several
reasons: 1) ghosts are meant to be sometimes-intelligent, sometimes not,
manifestations of electro-magnetic energy; what do all the tellies and
radios and computers and wireless routers and lights put out during the
day? Electromagnetic energy. At night, most of these things are
switched off. Less interference. That's just a no-brainer if you believe
that paranormal activity is related to EMFs. 2) There's hundreds of
years of people believing in 'The Witching Hour' and midnight being a
time when the veil between worlds is thin. Everything is quiet at that
time including people, which, as you may know, are big electromagnetic
batteries that recharge at night... (less interference with the
equipment again). And 3) it's somehow easier to get yourself into (haha)
the spirit of ghost hunting at night. Again, could be related to the
hundred of years of ancestral belief that say they only come out at
night. *shrug*

But, like I said, I'm a sceptical believer rather than a sceptical
unbeliever, so I'm more willing to adjust my bounds of logic than
someone who's an unbeliever would.

Anyway... I'm done rambling. Sorry.

Well you gardly sound credible most of the time yourself.

First encounter was when I was 8 years old. The face of an older man in a
suit and tie appeared one night in a bedroom window. It appeared backlit.
The windows was on the second floor with way of getting to it other than a
ladder. And there was no ladder. A few months later a visitor reported
seeing the same figure in the kitchen. Except there was no way they could
have gotten in there as there was only one way in and it was gone when we
investigated. She wasn't scared though because she said it looked like a
older person just standing by the sink and looking at her. She assumed it
was somebody else visiting.

About a minute maybe less. What happened in both my cases was I was so
scared I turned away and when I looked back the apparitions were still
there. Turned away a second time and them when I looked back they had gone.

The shows are faked. Ghost Hunters is just made up. If it's on TV it
probably is faked. I love the ghost gadgets they use, like the temperature
sensors and the electrical field stuff. Where can I buy those? The local
ghost hunter outfitter store?

I used to see a ghost (ghastly face) when I was a kid.... until I
finally realized it was just my globe lit up in the moonlight.

Paul,

So the story goes (I believe Bill Murray said it), ghosts take the form of
waiters and waitresses. They take your order and then disappear! <VBG>

I don't believe in ghosts, yet.

Hollywood does try their best to make them believable.

Best,

Andy

They exist. They very much exist and when you see one for the first time
you will experience fear like you can't imagine. The emotional response is
difficult to explain but it like trying to scream underwater. Your mind is
left with a nagging disbelief that you just saw something that has no place
in the world as you know it.

Very unsettling and I hope I never experience a sighting ever again.

Yes; "unsettling" is a very accurate description. I really wish this
phenom would visit itself upon Andy so he'd learn... It's not fun --
even if from a passive visitation. If there's a recurring visitation,
it's exhausting.
